Best storm warning app

[kisby]

I want to update my galaxy S5 with the best possible storm warning app. I did a search but did not find anything useful or recent. We live in tornado alley. Sometimes, storms occur in the middle of the night. I want the best app that will wake me up at night and let me know of an impending severe storm. Some of the apps only refresh every 30 minutes or so. So, a tornado warning could be 30 minutes old by the time my phone alerts me. I need something that will do better.

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

There's something you might have not noticed in your text app - you can't turn off what are called "Presidential notices". Yesterday we got an Amber alert on our cellphones. I don't know if the alarm is loud enough on your phone to wake you up, but mine would have awoken me. The NWS issues tornado warnings and alerts on the same system.

You can use an app if you want, but it's already baked into your phone, and it runs at maximum volume even if you have the phone on silent in most cases.

I use Pro Weather Alert https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.globalcanofworms.android.proweatheralert

I live in Chicago and the weather can be pretty bad with sever thunderstorms and possible tornado's. I love this app. It took me sometime to go thru all the settings, but once done, it runs in the background. You just need to leave your phone powered on. They have a free version to try first, the only thing is that you can only monitor one place. With the Pro version, you can monitor more then one place and change the setting to follow you. Its not a battery hog either.
