Help Best tethering method?

Neither one is working for me now, my phone is constantly switching on Wi-Fi and taking over the nic from the tether app. About every 7 minutes, and yes I have the Wi-Fi options turned off. It also activates (without prompting me) when ever I launch an app...

Only easy tether works well for me all the time

I haven't had problems with any of them, but foxfi seems to work best, provided I have the add on app too.

It isn't the apps that cause me problems, it is the phone. In the catlog it shows Wi-Fi being turned on and checking for a known AP then shutting off again. Or it prompts me to turn off Wi-Fi, always auto load, like it does when you check the notify me box in the settings.

By turning Wi-Fi on like that it breaks the network connection from the Wi-Fi for tethering.

Not sure what problems anyone has with easy tether, I get 1.6MB /sec downloads through it, it works on Windows, Mac, and Linux. It has never failed me in over two years, and your phone charges while you are using it.

Don't ask me why because I didn't dig into trying to resolve the issue, but half the websites I tried to visit while using easy tether wouldn't load. They all load using pdanet.

Foxfi does that... It turns on wifi, which is what the Hotspot app does; the data connection remains active. I was having the same toggle/on off issue until I installed the foxfi add on app.

Foxfi works good with the tf300 also. Just found out the Bluetooth work also even though it says the tf300 is missing a file, just get pdanet from the play store on the tablet.

Yea I saw that... So we can essentially use it like a phone with gvoice?

FoxFi has always been pretty reliable (PDAnet Tablet also asks for FoxFi to be installed on the phone).

Speed test from my TF201 reports close to 20 Mbps through the Spectrum while my DSL gives me 1.5-1.8!!

FoxFi has been reliable for me as well, albeit with limited experience. I did not need to install the add-on for it to function. Do we know what exactly the add-on is used for? If I'm running fine without it, is there any reason to install it?

It enables the proxy feature of the app and hides your action from your carrier. I think, in some cases, it properly sets up the phone for applying the data connection to the wifi hot spot. With me, I couldn't get any connections to my phone until I added the add on.
