Best ToDo List/Reminder

ReQall was awesome on my BlackBerry and just as good on the Android but a big +1 on ColorNote Notepad. I am just figging the simplicity for the simpler list things.

I just switched over from BlackBerry where I was using BHive Tasks (the most popular one for BB). I was happy to see that there is now an Android version that is specially designed to work with Google Tasks. So far it's been working great... the only one I found that works really well with Google Tasks.

"Tasks" in Gmail/Calendar works for me. mail.google.com/tasks/android?pli=1 gets you straight there on a phone. They show up in the lower right of a gmail page and the upper right of a calendar page, and full screen on a phone. Can make notes or checklists... all synced to your Google account.

What is your favorite ToDo List/Reminder App?

I would ideally like something which....

  • Easily takes a to-do list
  • Has reminder/alarm functions
  • Synchs with my calender
I was using my google calender, but then if I dismissed an event I lost my to do list.

Recommendations?

Seems like one application has heed your call.

I just tried Tasks N Todos since it is newly released in the market. The UI feels good and its basic features meet your requirements. You can check that out here https://market.android.com/details?id=com.handyapps.tasksntodos

I'm previously using Astrid, not the best though. :o

I just installed Tasks N Todos (on my HTC Thunderbolt) and unfortunately the repeat setting is not versatile enough to repeat a task on the 1st of every month. It apparently treats the term month as '30' days regardless. :(

That's strange. My phone don't have that issue though. You might want to contact their support for assistance.

Anyone using any.do?

I tried it for a day. Slow syncing with google tasks and I accidentally mark a task as done and then it was deleted! Design is simple but I'm not really used to how it works. That is a personal preference though. Went right back to Tasks N Todos for my task management.

I've never been one to actively use a task list. I'm trying any.do right now, but I only have one item on it. :D

I'll see how any.do works for me.

I tried color notes as well. In my previous Nokia phone whenever I set a reminder that would flash on the main screen/home screen. But with the android phone I find that it flashes only on the top of the mobile screen which I assume is the notification bar. Is there any reminder app which flashes on the complete screen or more than the notification bar and also I need a reminder app which has the feature wherein the reminder will go away only after we dismiss. I found this feature available only in Astrid.

I used to use Google Tasks Organiser Lite, but given the lack of features in Google Tasks, I'm trying the 14-day free trial of Ultimate To-Do List, which syncs with Toodledo.com (best To-Do list online IMO).

I've been using Ultimate To-Do List for a long time now. Syncs easily w/Toodledo.com, has a tablet version, exceptionally configurable, updated regularly, and the developer participates in a user feedback forum. Homepage here.

I've been using any.do on my Galaxy Player 5.0 for a while, really like the look and ui. Syncs well with Google.

i use the Calendar. this way it forces me to look at it and get it done by a specific time/day.

As a manager, it would be nice to have a reminder app in which I could write a note to remind myself to talk to one of my employees about and based on the employee name I input, it would know what day and time I need to be reminded. Meaning, I would like an automated alarms system based on the content of a note and alarm rules that I set ahead of time.

Hi phenomc, you might find the ability to do something similar using a combination of Ultimate To-Do List and the Toodledo service. I don't remember specifics, but I'm pretty sure Toodledo will accept specially formatted emails to automatically create tasks, which could have customizable alarms. Also the alarms can take a few different forms: email notifications, SMS texts, popups.

And if you combined the above with the sophisticated Tasker app, you could have all sorts of exotic automatic processing happening.

Wunderlist for me. Works well, and syncs across multiple platforms. It's on my iPad, my Exhibit II, my wife's DroidX, our notebooks, our work computers, her Nook Color (via web interface). It was actually the prime mover in my getting the Exhibit II.

Good find coyote1. Multi-platform is a must for me: No matter how slick a mobile version is, I still find it a lot easier to manage and swap information between applications on my desktop PC. So as long as it all syncs properly, I'm good to go.

Wunderlist product page and at the Android Market.

I've been using Gtask by dato for a couple of months, then tried out a different bunch of apps, and eventually came back because of the clear widget, intuitive folder display on widget with colours, uncluttered but detailed notifications and flawless sync with Tasks in the google pages.

It would really be perfect for me, and I would gladly pay for the full version, if I could enter 'call contact' reminders that would make the call with one tap straight from the notification. Nokia s40 could do that, I can't understand why smartphones don't, the nokia e5 couldn't neither.

Any ideas?

Another vote for remember the milk. I like the way I can enter the task name, date, time, tags, all on one line and have it figure it out. No need to scroll down through a list and check off different things.

I just went through such a search & opted for Pro Do as the best for MY needs. It does what you're looking for. I used it for a very short time before I purchased the paid version, as I wanted the extra features & to support the developer. I especially like it for the way it works with Sub Tasks, which to me is better than all the rests. I didn't like Astrid at all. Gtasks was my 2nd favourite but I found it lacking in some areas & didn't really like the UI.

For Notes or quick item lists, I like Note Everything. I use rShopping for Grocery Lists.
