Best used Android 2.2 phone for games

2 Part question

1. Can I purchase a used bad esn phone on Eaby and use it for games and apps. I have a Evo 4G and my son loves the games angry birds and Fruit ninja etc but I dont want him using my evo.
I was thinking of getting a old used phone on Ebay and sideloading the games on it . Would that work ?'
And it it did what would be a good model to use that is really cheap and has Android 2.2 . Dont want to buy a $200 tablet or a good phone .

I have the same situation. 5 year old who loves angry birds and abduction, he plays them all he wants on my old LG optimus v. Virgin mobile. You could probably find a used one cheap, I'm not sure about side loading though. The optimus might need data, or a certain app for it. Anyway, you can get a month of data for only 25$, and 300 minutes. Then you could turn off the service when you are done with it.
 
You could also use wi-fi to download the games. Then you wouldn't have to sideload them and if you log in with your account any pay games you have bought will be available. As for phones the Droid 1 is pretty cheap now and is still a good phone with 2.2 updated.
 
Appreciate the tips and yes Wi-Fi would Be a good way to get free and paid apps .I'm concerened about getting. The 2.2 updates if the phone does not have it. They don't say on eBay and might be difficult to update if u can't connect to sprint. Or verizon etc. Unless I'm wrong about that.

He has a Dsi. But he wants to play all versions of angry birds. Fruit ninja and all those cool android games. I. Feel bad but i can't let him play with my Evo.
Seems the Droid 1 and lg optimus s are good 2.2 phones. Just want to be sure birds and ninja run on them.
 
Wound up purchasing a LG Optimus S for cheap on Ebay (under $75 shipped) and with a clean esn. It works perfect and I can sideload any game I have already purchased for my EVO to it. or any free apk file on the web And can use Amazon market on it as a Market. Great usage for old android phones. for $50 you can have a ipod type device. And becasue it has a clean ESN I can add add it on my line .
