Best way to put movies and music on SD card...

Boins

Newbie
Hey guys,

I'm not too android savvy yet and have a few questions regarding media. I have an SD card that I want to put some music on. I mostly use my Google Play library but I'd like access to music from the phone for when I'm not in a wifi area. I want the music on the SD card to save space and google play doesn't seem to like that.

Also, I have a back log of digital movie downloads from my blu ray collection. After I put them on my PC what is the best way to get them onto my phone and is there a preferred media player to use with the movies?

Sorry if this is simple stuff, but sometimes it's not too simple until you've actually done it.

Hi!

What I did was use AnyDVD HD and DVD Catalyst 4 to rip the discs to 1920 x 1080 resolution, then just dragged the mp4s to the SD card. Gallery video player does a capable job of playing them: it just doesn't seem to want to label them in the folder! So it's guesswork to get the right movie to play.

Sounds like you have already ripped yours, so yeah... just drag and drop :)

Using the cable that came with the phone. Once you've plugged it into a computer, look for the phone on your Windows PC under "My Computer" or "Computer" if you're using Windows 7 or 8.

Looks like the description of how to get the files over to your phone has already been explained.

One thing to keep in mind is issues with DRM. I still have yet to find an easy to use/non-expensive program to remove DRM. I've purchased a few movies, from different places, and have had a difficult time getting them to play on my phone due to DRM encryption. Most of the programs I've tried are just "trials" and never quite work correctly.

Try Hand Brake

Handbrake is a good video transcoder, from one format to another or for ripping DVDs. However it does not remove the DRM from downloaded movies from services like iTunes, Netflix or Amazon.

I should just remind everyone that AF rules prohibit the discussion of stripping, cracking or defeating of DRM, which is unlawful due to the DMCA.

After reading all these posts, a couple things I saw, primarily to the first poster.

If you are on a Apple, my experience has been that plugging in the Android phone does not give you access to that SD card very easily. I carry a 32 in my phone for movies and tv shows. I have had great success using a little program called Android File Transfer. It has a memory component that watches for your phone and brings up a dialog window when the phone is plugged in. You can then see your phone's directory or go to your card directory and drag files over to it.
