Android Question

Guest
Dear all,

I am fairly new to the world of Android and am trying to get up to speed. I want to know if there is a way to get my hands on the beta software versions that Android might be releasing prior to its official launch (like Apple does. Apple releases the beta version of the software to developers, and to other users as well recently).

So, I want to know if there is any way to get hands on the beta versions and when to know about a new one. Also, I am highly confused about loading new versions of software on any android device externally. I read about it and got a whole lot confused about Flashing the ROM, rooting the device, and many others.

I will highly appreciate any help.

Thanks,
G.

As far as I'm aware, there's no "beta" program fro Android due to the variety of hardware it runs on; once a particular OS version is released it's up to the OEMs to adapt it to suit their particular devices. The one exception to this is Nexus devices which, as they are effectively "reference devices" receive updates directly from Google. I believe interim/test builds are made available for these.

Questions about replacing the OS are best asked in the forum specific to the particular device, as methods vary greatly.
