Better battery

I was wondering if instead of closing apps and doing all of that to increase battery life, could I simply just buy a bigger battery? I was basically wondering if there are any out there for purchase, and where I could buy them. Could I just go to a Metro store and buy one?

They do not have bigger batteries yet..well they do have batteries that should work for other Galaxy Phones, but you would have no back cover.

The Spare battery I bought from Metro is only an 1100 mAh battery the stock one is 1500 mAh. my thrid battery is is from ebay it was cheaper and 1500 mAh

Gus,

How has the performance been on that 1500 mAh aftermarket battery? Do you think you are really getting the full 1500 mAh? If yes, could you please post some info about the seller's name, or the brand name of said battery (if any)? Because I would be interested in picking one up, I'm sure others probably would as well. Thanks!

...and how do you keep them both charged as it takes forever to charge just one?

I see the desktop chargers, but do they work? And do the Chinese batteries (3 for $12 with the charger!) actually work?

If you go to Samsungs site there are two batteries for the Galaxy S that look like ours: the standard 1500mA EB504465YZBSTD
and the extended 2600mA EB124465YZBSTD

both look like ours, which is a 1500mA EB504465VUBSTD
(mine is actually EB504465VA but that's not listed at Samsung, the above is the one that works)
Anyway, is the extended Galaxy S one the battery your thinking of? Notice how close the numbers are?
Looking at mine with the cover on it, you could put a thicker battery in the phone, cut out a hole in the back cover, then use the aftermarket cover over the hole. Might need some rubber or foam, but it would work.
(edit Of course, I've sanded my tabs down to make it easier to remove the aftermarket cover. This might have made the cover/clips too loose to use this way.)
I can't help it, it's the Rube Goldberg in me....

Yes, I think a lot of people would be interested in this, certainly myself included!

I was reading somewhere else all the Samsung phones that use our battery (there were several). I had already thought that if an extended battery was available for any of those phones, it may work for ours too (with the caveat of possibly not fitting physically or having to modify the case as ickster has pointed out).

I'm way too tired right now to do accurate cross referencing, but if someone hasn't picked up on this and run with it in the next day or two, I may get back on it...

The battery works just as well as the factory battery, and the desktop charger it comes with charges the phone and the battery at the same time. follow link to ebay listing.

Look at the profile picture in the extended battery in this ebay listing. it's almost double the thickness and comes with a cover to replace original. It wont be long before the Chinese make one of these for the indulge.
