Better Value than Moto G 3rd Gen?

So I am looking to upgrade my phone, trying to decide which is better value and will have a longer useful life, Moto X 2nd Gen (2014) or Moto G 3rd Gen (2015). I assume that the Moto X 2nd Gen has been upgraded to the latest Android version, so I guess OS should not be an issue.
Opinions, anyone?

Thanks for the link, and for your opinion. Cash out is a consideration, but I also want to think about how long it will take before the phone starts feeling dated. How much longer do you think you will be keeping your current phone before you start itching for an upgrade? If you don't mind my asking.

Well. See. It's like this. In theory, I'd like to keep it for a good long time because it's a great phone and there is truly no reason for me to upgrade. I'd like to tell you I plan on having it for 2 more years, or until the battery dies or until it has some sort of catastrophic meltdown. I'd like to think that's my plan. But, you see, I have a problem. I never seem to be able to stick to that plan. I had a '13 X that I loved and had no reason to upgrade from but I did because I saw a new shiny thing. (In my defense, I got the '14 off of swappa.com so didn't pay full price.)

Seriously though, I do think I will keep this for a long while. I really am in no hurry to get rid of it and the new X probably won't entice me enough to dump the '14. It's really as close to a perfect phone as I've ever had.
 
I agree, I had the Moto X (2013) before getting the (2014) model.

Except for not being able to expand the memory, the phone is good in all other aspects.
