BIg deal help plz

Ok so my htc inspire 4g was stolen and my gps was never able to actually lock in even when I had it.

I just used androidlost.com

And successfully retrieved all the texts and calls the perp has made including evidence that he didn't answer my phone calls because he thought it was me the owner of the phone i have all the technicall infor of the phone and his email that he is using but my gps won't lock in any closer than 2100 meters of the actuall location......

What should I do please help me I just want my phone back I'd love to pin point his adders and who it is without involving the police so I can give him a well deserved thank you for finding my phone.....

What do you think I should do he's ran up my data and the phone is still active

If the GPS is not working or can't get a location fix from the satellites for whatever reasons, that might be all you can get for location. If I try to do a location on my phone without GPS, using just the network or WiFi it's probably about that. Bare in mind GPS can only work properly if it's outside and has a clear view of the sky, if your phone is in a basement or something, GPS has no chance.

Now that sounds very much like taking the law into your own hands. :O ...given that you've only got a location accurate to 2000 meters it's not likely to happen anyway.

Given the situation by the sound of things, think there's only a few things you can do. Go to the police and report it stolen, call your carrier get them to block the account and blacklist the phone. You can probably check all the second hand dealers and pawnbrokers in your area, also check the second hand classified ads as well, in case your phone turns up there. That's about it I think.

Thank you for the respond. But I was wondering even with the emei number or all of the info there's no way for AT&T to locate it?

Can i just say from experience, dont expect the police to do anything but give you a pink slip with an incident number for insurance.
How we caught a guy was through his call list and him adding contacts. It was a slow but worthwhile process and that boy wont be stealin phones in a hurry.
Take i the idiot hasnt reset it then?

The networks can locate a phone using mast triangulation but don't do it as the police aren't generally interested in persuing stolen phones. I suspect you're going to have similar trouble getting help to get the phone back.

Some people have put pictures thieves have taken on stolen phones on t'interweb in an attempt to shame the theif into returning the phone. Not sure how successful that has been ..

If you report the phone as stolen, the network will blacklist the EMEI which will effectively stop the thief from being able to use the phone - at least, in your home country - and will also stop them running up bills for you.

This has always been the dilemma to me..... use a lock screen, un-savvy theif throws it away.. report it stolen, phone gets imei locked.. either way you dont get it back or the satisfaction :banghead:
The average phone theif is very unsavvy so play with them, if youre on a contract, cap it, catch them please!
Any numbers you get from them, get your friends to start chatting them up, get a facebook for them.... its fun and worthwhile.
Good luck ma friend!
