Big hello from me

Lurker
Just thought id pop by and say hello. I just got myself a Samsung Galaxy S2 (GT-I9100) and hope you guys can help mw with a few things. Actually I found it, I know you might be thinking I stole it but honest truth is I was out walking my dogs and stepped on the corner of it. It was in a black rubber case and its in perfect condition. I didnt know what it was as first but it seems to be in working order.

Welcome to AF! :)

That's an expensive handset and I can imagine the owner is going to be pretty annoyed/upset that they lost it. My advice would be to hand it in to the police ASAP.

Hey there, Dean, welcome to the AndroidForums.

You might want to try to contact the carrier to see if they can locate the original owner. Try going into Settings -> About phone. The carrier name should be listed in the System version information. If you call them and give them the phone's number and/or MEID (both listed in the Status page of the About phone option), they might be able to contact the owner to allow them to recover their phone or tell you the phone's status (lost, stolen, etc.).

Cheers and we're glad you signed-up with us here at AF.

Thanks for the reply. The phone had no SIM or Memory Card so it looks like it was dumped, lucky me found it. I guess its pay back as about a month ago my iPhone was knicked from my car when getting petrol. I've looked where you mentioned and I can't see any reference to a carrier. I've rang T-mobile, 3, Orange, Vodafone and O2 and no one there could help me. All of them said count yourself lucky and keep it. What can I do with it now? My SIM wont work and I think its been locked. Ive just posted a thread here with more info on if you want to read it and maybe help me out.

Thanks
