Help Big market problem

I have the captivate unlocked and rooted, android 2.2, running on Straight Talk. I have already tried all the market fixes, clearing cache, factory reset, all that jazz. But whenever I get on the market it will.work fine for a while. The problem comes when it automatically updates. It crashes so fast it doesn't give me a chance to press force close. I can download apps just fine but I can't use the market again unless i go in and uninstall updates before each use. Somebody, some tech wiz please help me! I also need help with upgrading to 2.3, but I might just buy the galaxy s2 but it's quite expensive right now. Anyone know where to find it cheap? I checked eBay Craigslist Amazon etc. Please help me if u can thanks.
