So last night I'm out and randomly after I closed a text message, all my contacts got erased. I have no idea how it happened but yea maybe someone can help me out as to how or why this happened.

I'm running Bugless Beast .7.5

Thanks.

Are you using stock messaging app? Are you still logged into your gmail account on the phone? Do you have your contacts set to back up to google servers?

Using ChompSMS

Not sure if I'm logged in or how to check.

Auto sync is off, so contacts do not sync unless I click the sync button.

Just open the market, if it lets you right in, then your logged in. if it asks you to login, then you know your not.

have you at any point made a backup of your contacts with sync?

I use Handcent, and I've used BB 7.5 and my contacts stayed with me so I don't know. The only problem I have is every once in a while the received message will disappear when I select to read it from notification panel or I close the handcent pop up window. But it's only that one message not all, and nothing has happened to any of my contacts. So I don't know there.

If you go under "settings" and "accounts & Sync" it will show you what gmail and facebook accounts your logged into under "manage accounts"

If you have auto sync off and have never sync'd your contacts to the google cloud, then I'm sorry buddy you're going to have to type them in all again unless you have them in a program that can export a file to be imported into your google account. You can keep auto sync off, but I suggest you at least let it sync once so that the contacts are stored on your gmail account. That way anytime you hard reset your phone or switch to a new android device all you do is log in your gmail account and bam! all your contacts appear.
