Big problem

Hello guys, so I bought my HTC Sensation a few days ago and bought a mico sd 32gb class 6 card for the mobile. And I dunno if the problem is becouse of the card or anything other but here is goes.

When I transfer apk files from my PC to my mobile phones sd card they somehow get corrupted. I know that since I can't open then when they get on my mobile phone and I'm sure they are not corrupted becouse more people have tested them and have no problems with them.

I get a for example: "Could not open /mnt/sdcard/Games/Battle Bears.apk as APK file"

Even a more freakier part is that if I try it a few times to delete the app connect to my pc and put it on the sd card again and again sometimes it works and recognize the app - apk file with no problem. It's like it has it's own brain, and it chooses sometime to open a apk and sometimes to ignore it, doesen't matter if its the same file, CRAZY!!!

So why is it so bugy? Whats wrong?

Maybe your phone doesn't like you pirating apps...? ;D

-Try another card
-Try another PC
-Try same card in another phone
-Try factory reset

Then see what you got.

Hmmm.... if it eventually works, that really only leaves two areas that could cause trouble: Filesystem and hardware.

You can check the filesystem under Windows by right-clicking on the drive.

Have you tried using a different file manager to open files on the SD card?

Yes that how I noticed that they were corrupted, Astro didn't say much only this: "Could not open /mnt/sdcard/Games/Battle Bears.apk as APK file"

So i tried a few others and then of them wrote that the files were corrupted.

So far the only way for me to make them work was delete, mount hard drive, copay from desktop, paste to mobile sh hc. And over and over until the file isn't corrupted so I can make the installation :(

Make sure you back up all important data on the sd card.

1. Using a card reader, backup all data from the sd card, including hidden folders to a PC. You can do this by setting the file manager on the PC to show hidden files and then copy the entire contents of the sd card to a folder on the pc called sd-backup.

2. Put the sd card back in the phone. Go to menu>settings>storage and unmount the sd card.

3. Make sure you've got backups because this next part is not reversible.

4. Reformat the sd card (after you've verified your backups, of course ... did I mention backups already? It's important)

5. Remove the sd card from the phone and put it back in the pc card reader.

6. Copy the contents of the sd-backup folder on the pc back to the sd card, excluding the corrupt .apk files.

7. Put sd card back into your phone and reboot it.

If that doesn't work then there are two other things you can try.

8. try a different sd card with your phone and if that works consistently, then you have a bad sd card. Replace it.

9. Try the current sd card in a different phone and it works consistently, then you have a bad phone. Get it fixed.

I'm tried a few of this, so far the new sd card that I put looks OK.

Have you checked the card for errors on your computer?

How do you do that?

You can check the filesystem under Windows by right-clicking on the drive. Go to properties, then pick the Tools tab and press Check now.
