Bigpond on gmail in windows 10

ok So it's off topic but related.

I have a bigpond (telstra email here in australia) email address which I managed to insert in gmail on my android tablet using the bigpond address and password. It works fine.

But when I try to use that same bigpond email with gmail in chrome on my windows 10 computer, it doesn't work. It gets as far as the password entry step but will not accept it.

Can anyone help?

Have you got multi-factor authentication enabled on the email? That might be preventing email login with password only. I don't use Windows myself, so can't really help with any problems with it.

Have you tried a different browser?

I don't use windows, so I can't help you there. Have you tried, or can you try, a different computer?

Exactly how does it not accept it? Is the password field grayed out/inaccessible? Or do you enter the field okay, but can't type in it? Or do you type your password and it's rejected as incorrect? Or something else?

We need more info! :)

As a side note, you might want to use an e-mail client and set that up for all of your accounts, including Gmail. I've never even opened the Gmail app, nor have I ever accessed it via its web interface. My e-mail client is one component of the SeaMonkey suite, which also includes my main browser. Its e-mail client handles multiple accounts beautifully, all visible and accessible at the same time, and supports all types of mail (e.g., POP, IMAP) including Gmail.

Can type the password in but it responds as if the password is incorrect.

Depending on how Telstra has authentication setup, sometimes for a mail client like the gmail app you need only your user name and password, but for webmail (chrome on Windows 10) you need to type your full email address as your user name, or vice versa.

Also some accounts may need to enable webmail access in they user account settings. I would assume you'd have access to that, but maybe not. Have you contacted bigpond about it?
