Help Bionic Automatic Sync to Google Stopped

I can manually sync Contacts and Calendar between Bionic and Google.

The automatic syncing of Contacts and Calendar has stopped.

I discussed this with my Verizon Wireless dealer today and was told this was the fourth report they had of the problem. It was always a Bionic. Sometimes you had to wait more than 24 hours for the automatic sync.

Any suggestions?

I had a similar problem when my calendar stopped syncing. I tried a few things and I think my solution was:

From Homescreen > Menu > Manage App > "All" Tab > Calendar > Then I clicked "CLEAR DATA"

About 30 minutes later, it started syncing again. It has worked great ever since.

Thank you for the information. I tried it and it did not work for me.

My problem was a lot more stupid ...

I rently installed the On-Off widget pack and it has a Widget to turn Auto-Sync On/Off. I never knew what it was refrencing. It was set to Off. You guessed it ... when I turned it to On the Syncing with Google started working the way I expected.

If you go into Calendar | Settings | Manage Calendars you will see that the calendars in quesiton are marked as synced. They are marked that way regardless of how the On-Off widget is set.

I bet others are falling into this one the way I did.

Thanks again.

I have the exact same issue. My calendar sync has stopped auto sync. Manual update works fine.

I tried the "Clear Data", and will wait to see if auto sync restarts. My Power Widget has the sync option on, and I think that's the same you were referring to that was turned off in your case.

My wife's bionic is working fine and auto syncs changes to the calendar almost instantaneously.

HELP!!!

Spoke with Verizon. It is a known issue. Cause unknown.

I did a factory reset of my phone and that seems to have fixed it.

One heads up, download something like AppBrain to remember all of your apps. The Verizon tech was told by google that all of my apps would be remembered and I could just tap to download. Well, from what I can tell, that only applies to PAID apps. All of my FREE apps were not remembered by google and I had to re-install all of them from memory.

In my case Auto Sync was turned off. When I looked at how the account was configured it reported that Sync was turned on. I think it was actually telling me that Sync was "enabled".

My guess is that it was turned off on your phone and when you did the factory reset it was turned back on. There is no real way to tell at this point. (I guess you could suggest to Verizon that on a test phone hey turn off Auto Sync and do a factory reset and see that it is turned back on.)

The widget I am using is OnOff Widgets Pack from CurveFish.

I just looked again ... take a look at Settings|Accounts|Gmail ...

When Auto Sync is enabled there are chck boxes next to each of the subsections like "Sync Calendar".

When AutoSync is Off there are no check boxes but you can manually request a Sync.

You might point this out to a Verizon person you talk to. The one I talked to did not have this insight. It tells you sthe state the AutoSync option is in.

Those boxes were most definitely checked on my accounts > gmail page.

I checked and unchecked them numerous times, which didn't help the issue but did a manual sync.

I also used that page to see if my calendar had synced because it shows the time. That was how I knew it hadn't synced for over 4 hours yesterday.

Since the boxes were there you had AutoSync On. Whatever it was was apparently reset with the factor reset.

Others reported a problem at my Verizon store and it was descibed to me as "always on a Droid".

Those settings enable or disable actual synchronizig of the items listed. They do not control automatic synchronizing.

That is done is a few other places, mainly Settings --> battery & data manager --> Data delivery --> Background data and Settings --> battery & data manager --> Data delivery --> Social applications (for those using the social app for things like FB, Twitter, etc.)

The other place to look at is Settings --> battery & data manager --> Battery mode to see how your battery saver is configured. I had mine set to Nighttime saver mode, but just changed it to Performance mode.

Finally, check any apps that you have that may have their own data connection managers - they may also affect this.
