Thanks for the note. I didn't realize that there were deals going sour on the forums. I should consider myself lucky thus far then.

Again, thanks.

So I am new to the forum (getting my droids razr next week). What ARE the risks of providing the esn? Some folks provide it. Full disclosure: I have purchased phones on ebay WITHOUT asking for or receiving the ESN and they activated just fine. Have sold phones without giving out the ESN and buyers had no problems.

I bought my Incredible from here and I didn't ask the seller for the esn and all went well. I guess it depends. Some won't buy a phone without knowing the esn to make sure it's clean and can be activated. But there are risks when providing esn's.

The biggest risk of giving out the ESN is this:

Lets say some1 steals a phone. They cannot activate it on verizon, bc the ESN is "bad". If someone gives out their ESN to their good phone, that person can take that ESN, us a program to implant that ESN into their phone and activate the phone onto the carrier. When you try to activate your "good" phone, VZW tells you, "sorry that phone is already activated"

Also, phone is sold. I thank everyone for looking.

Thanks. Congrats on the sale.

Thread cleaned and closed.

Name calling OF ANY KIND is completely unacceptable at Android Forums. I expect EVERYONE to remember that moving forward.

And like it or not there are people who could use info like esn numbers and do bad things, even if there wasn't it is up to the descretion of the seller if he provides that info (and how he provides it). If no one wants to buy a phone because whoever doesn't provide the esn then SO BE IT!! We don't need anyone crusading for the rights of others, the classifieds section is "At Your Own" never forget that.

I expect that this matter is dropped and there will be no more issues about it.

Have a nice day.

Please feel free to PM me with any questions/comments
