bionic fm radio

anyone know a way to listen to the fm radio app without having to use headphones? Im guessing a set of speakers would work too, but can the phone internal speaker be used?

Google 'fm radio bionic' and you can download the app for playing fm stations on your phone. The headphones simply act as an antenna which you can listen through or select the option to use the speaker. Any 3.5mm jack with some wire on it will act as an antenna, but you choose where the sound comes from.

So there is an FM radio built into the Bionic? Why doesn't it have an app for it if they built it in? Sometimes I just don't understand why Verizon does these things, or was this a Motorola decision to make it do something but provide no way to use it?

As long as you have a cable plugged in to the headphone jack you can use the internal phone speakers. there is an option at the bottom of the FM app to do that. I have Bose QC15's which have a detachable cable, so when I want to listen w/o headphones, I unplug the headphones from the cable. You MUST have a cable in order to get reception as well as allow the FM app to open.

I also use I Heart Radio & Tune in Radio, although they are internet radio & grab the feed via your data plan. I have not had the urge to get regular radio software, I enjoy bouncing around the country for my music.

That's all well and good if you have a data or wifi connection. Without a connection, the fm radio tuner will still work while streaming services won't.

Many smaller stations are only available on the FM Radio and not the Internet (I have to monitor a local talk show at times).

You might also note that Tips in this Forum had instructions on installing the missing app (Bionic FM Radio). It contained the old link that the owner converted. I updated the Tip with the new link.
