Bionic is getting ICS officially not just through custom roms

Funny, the article says that a Moto rep said they're waiting on the code before they can announce a date - but if that were true, hen how come they've already announced a tentative date for the RAZR, seeing as (in another post) XMR thinks that hteh RAZR and BIONIC ROMs are going to be interchangeable?

Makes no sense to me. Unless, of course, the BIONIC ICS update comes out before the RAZR one....

i just traded in my dinc for the bionic and went from the "where is my gingerbread" thread to the "wonder when we'll be getting ICS" thread. gotta love this stuff. i think it'll be time for a poll soon.

IMO, This is how I see Motorola's strategy cycle. The dates I'm using is just for visual purposes.

-Launch the Bionic- 9/8/11
-Gather info about bugs and issues- 9/8-11/2/11
-Apply the updates that they believe fixes the issues found on the Bionic to the software of the Razr when it's launched.
-Launch the Razr- 11/3/11
-Then send out the update to the Bionic. 11/24/11
-Gather info about bugs and issues found on the Razr 11/3/11-???
-Apply the updates to the next Razr update- 2011 4th Qtr
-Gather info about bugs and issues found on the Razr update
-Apply the updates to the next Bionic update- 2012 1st Qtr
-Update Razr to ICS- 2012 1st Qtr

Maybe that's why they released the Bionic and Razr so close together. Motorola is sooo sneaky! :p

:D Man that just saved me a few hundred dollars..

As long as they update this thing to ICS then i think we (me and my phone) will be fine just fine..

The Droid in its life time went from 2.0 to 2.1, then 2.2. The Droid X went from 2.1 to 2.2 then to 2.3. So it makes sense that the Droid Bionic will get at least one Android version update.
