That is a Yellow Cardinal. Genetic defect. I posted a pic of the yellow bird in our area. Its an American Goldfinch.How big is that bird? I swear I saw one but nobody could tell me what a yellow bird might be in Boston. It's been over a decade since I've seen a yellow bird in the wild um... urban landscape.
It was fanning it's feathers on top of a bush in a tiny front yard in front of a triple-decker.
Check the page I linked. The yellow is muted in the winter. It's more of a yellow hue. They start really brightening up later in the spring.It's been a long while but the colors are right. I guess it was a Finch. That color is rare in my neighborhood though.
They come through my area March / April.I've got ugly starlings at my feeder this morning![]()
