Bird Watchers

Hate the Starlings! There is a small flock that lives across the street, they rarely make it to my back yard though, phew. It's kind of funny, there is some sort of imaginary line that they just don't cross. Fine with me!

Oh and, LOVE the waxwings but they hate me. They come to my apple tree sometimes, such pretty birds. They refuse to let me actually see or watch them though, they fly over a lot...giggling at me I'm sure!

starlings are not grackles.

The first sure sign of Spring ... the lawn care companies sticking flyers in your mailbox. :(

Now if I could only figure out how to stuff the mailbox with grackles. :D

I've never seen this one. Bear with me...
It starts singing really, really loudly about 3am a few weeks into Spring, well before sunrise. I'll try to record it when I go back to work. But does anyone know a bird that gets up that early to sing?

Haven't heard our hummers migrating yet but this bird is back:

Taken from chair in family room through a rather rain spotted window.
They perch on top of the pine trees and say "drink your tea-oooo"

Hadn't seen him for a while, he did learn to use the flat feeder as did the juncos and whitecrowns.
Bambi can starve.

So your thinking Baltimore Oriole? I listened to some clips on YouTube and the pitch is definitely right and a saw a similar looking bird with that black head and orange breast on one of the lawn patches on the plaza as I was leaving Monday at 7:00 AM. That still doesn't explain why it starts singing so damn early and loud.

Did some more research using the black head and orange breast and I'm now convinced it was an American Robin. When I saw it on the lawn it was larger than Orioles are described and it did not have the white bands on the wings.
