Root Black home screen

Dark One

Android Expert
I rooted my gf's Spectrum a couple of weeks ago using the AIO package and flashed Broken Out 3.0. Everything has been working great until tonight when she sent me an email saying that her home screen is black and none of the buttons do anything except when she holds the home button she gets "recents." It boots normally and the lock screen is normal. I did make a backup before I rooted it and she can boot in to recovery. If we restore the backup, do I need to do anything first? Any other advice? Thanks.

She's a little freaked out and I think I would prefer to just restore the backup if the problem can't be fixed an easier way. I just wanted to make sure that I don't have to unroot or do anything else before restoring a pre-root backup.

Sounds like the launcher app is having issues. The v6 nandroid I was messing with did that to me one time when I forgot to put any launcher app in the Rom!

Exactly the same issue. You can try to adb push an alternative launcher to her phone then reboot.

yup. I was gonna say just reflash the rom. Glad you got it working.

Remember these 2 things. 1) if you can get into recovery then usually a simple reflashing will fix you up. Also remember to keep the necessary files you need to return to stock on your sd. Neph81 has a nice method for returning to stock through CWM. Go to http://androidforums.com/spectrum-a...-pure-v4-verizon-stock-only-cwm-recovery.html and get these files and learn the method. Anyone who flashes roms should also learn how to return to stock as well.

2) Learn the download mode method for returning to stock because if all else fails and you can't get to recovery, and the phone just loops the lg logo then your last resort will be download mode which will allow you to return to stock through a little bit more complex method but will save your butt!
