Help Black screen on phone calls

Just recently my phone started going black during phone calls. There's no way to turn the screen back on (yes i pressed the top button, im not dumb) unless you removed the battery or for some strange reason use a bluetooth which makes the phone function fine. Is anyone else having this problem? Is there a fix for this or should i head to Metro to exchange it out? Any input would be great, thanks

Did you put on a new case or screen protector? The proximity sensor on the front that makes the screen go dim during calls is to the left of the speaker. Some screen protectors have cutouts for it while a generic one might not.
