Help black screen with light

Thank you in advance for any responses.

Ok guys second post... have an esteem with a busted screen. was just cracked, but then dropped again and went completely black... (no backlight or anything... no response from touch, but phone does power on) I bought another phone from Ebay, listed as having a bad ESN, plus it would not power on beyond the lg logo. I figured as long as the screen was fine i could just swap motherboards. Well I did that and it is doing the same thing that it was doing in the other phone. Black screen no light etc, but does power on. Through the other thread, we concluded that something must be wrong with my motherboard.

Since then I decided to check the ESN on the parts phone I have, and it says it is clear. But this phone has issues as well (i am thinking maybe due to it being rooted or something????)... The phone will power on, go through the startup sequence (LG logo), however, after the LG logo it does not go any further. No Metro PCS logo or anything. Instead it just goes black. The backlight stays on, so the screen is still lit up, but nothing else helps. I tried just letting it sit like that on the charger for a while. Is this something that I can fix? If so I will just fix it and activate it instead. Thank you.
 
Hello and welcome to the forums . Wow may i ask what made you think the esn was bad . Was the phone blacklisted or reported stolen. But did u make sure the other device didn't have a bad esn also . The esn is put into the radio of the motherboard. Also did u make sure all is connection was made tight . If so . What you want to do now is very tricky . Go to this site to get lg tool and lg drivers

Keep the lg tool it will come in handy after you use this downgrade method that tool will get you back to the zve .

So you will downgrade then use the tool to upgrade to zve but first you need to get all drivers download to your laptop or pc . .

I have an lg esteem and the screen went black on it all the other buttons light up the screen even lights up and have a rainbow colored line down the middle of the phone the line changes colors but no picture not even the lg logo that pops up when you turn the phone on. I answered it one time and it works so im thinking that it's something with the screen I was going to replace the lcd display screen in the phone to see if this would fix it. What do you guy's think.


Oh ya I also tried taking the battery out and putting it back in but no change still black.
 
The digitalizer can be a problem or did water get in the device . How did this happen u picked up a call and it was ... i am lost was you rooted when this occurred .
 
No water got into the device it was working fine i put it in my pocket a call came in when i took it out to answer it the screen would not come on. I answered the call from memory of where and how the buttons work but from there on it was only a black screen.
 
Did u sit on it and hear a crack or pop and to correct you itz not a screen its called a DIGITALIZER. I think you may need to buy a new digitizer and not a used one . The used one may be a problem . So see about buying a NEW digitizer a.k.a screen .
