Black screen

[Galaxy S2 i9100]

I was using my phone and it died. I plugged it in to let it charge and when I tried turning it on , it did turn on and I felt the turn on vibration. The buttons lit up but the screen is blank... Just black even without back light, and when it is turned on it makes a sound almost like the overheat sound.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums. Hopefully I can help you with your problem.

Sounds like you may have hardware failure. If possible, try getting the device into recovery and do a factory reset. If you can get the phone into recovery then all is not lost. If your phone will not go into recovery, I'm pretty sure you've had a major hardware failure.

If the phone is still under warranty, contact Samsung.
