Help Blackscreen when trying to get into fastboot

As i was following the instructions on "unlockbootloader" on sony's website i had to connect to fastboot, i followed the instructions(plugged in usb while holding "volume up") and a blue light came on but the screen stays dark.

What have i done wrong?
