Help Blank screen fix required

Ok so I may or may not have dropped my Desire S in a beer stein during Oktoberfest last year. However I saved it and it has been working fine ever since.
Just yesterday the screen has died gone black though the phone still works as the home buttons light up and it can be called etc. I have tried a soft reset plus an entire hard reset (I think as I couldn't see what I was doing but followed HTC instructions).
I think my water damage indicators are damaged as under the battery (not on the battery) there is a red sticker. I assume that is one of the indicators anyway.
So basically I believe it is screwed as it will no longer be covered by warranty. Is there a way to replace the screen? How much does this cost if anyone has done it? Otherwise will look at trying to fix it myself.
Help would be appreciated :)
Cheers

As a DIY project, it's certainly doable

There are two main components to the screen that you can buy. One is the touch screen digitizer glass, the top bit that you touch. The other is the LCD display underneath, which gives the actual visual display. Either or both could be responsible for the blank screen you have. (Or it could be something else.) You can get the touch screen on eBay for about

Thanks Notebook.
Will have a look but kind of don't want to spend money on new screens if it is just a connector issue or something else hidden in the phone. Will investigate and come back if I need to.
Cheers
