Blinking lights

Sometimes I have a red, blue, green or white light blinking at the top of my phone. What do these lights mean?

Okay, I have joined and logged in. I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 AT&T. I get a light blinking sometimes green, red, blue or white. I haven't been able to figure out what these lights mean.
