Guys I've recently taken 2.3 android phone, when i open maps (updated) application (gps and data connection enabled) my positions is detected by a blue dot instead of blue arrow. please help me to get blue (compass) arrow. my friends phones has blue arrow but not mine... please insist on the same.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums. 
You say you updated maps? If you want the blue arrow back, then you'll have to downgrade to it's previous version. Just go to Manage Applications > Maps > and just uninstall the update.
If you can't do this then it might be because of his devices maps is different.

Try resetting your device to see if it takes affect.

If that doesn't help you could try clearing the app data on it and if that doesn't help then it can only mean that your friend has a different type of maps then you.
