Help Blue edge display/unexpected power-off

maccag

Newbie
On web pages if I swipe to the edge of an internet page (or even in settings), and then continue swiping in the same direction, then a blue band appears on the edge of the display. When I lift my finger off the screen it disappears. I have disabled the auto adjust screen power and auto brightness to no avail.

Also I have had one instance of the phone powering off. No specific reason. Battery was fully charged. The phone would not then turn on. The back cover was properly on. I removed the battery and replaced it. I couldn't see anything to break the battery connections. On replacement it then turned back on.

Anyone had similar problems?

Should I return the phone?

The blue edge is a feature to let you know that you can no longer swipe the screen that direction, as you have reached the end of the page. This is not a problem.

Never had a phone restart problem.

I Have had the same problem with the blue band appearing at the edge of the screen when i scroll to the end of a web page. i don' t believe it is a feature because my wife abd I bought one each 3 months ago during which time this problem did not occur and still does not with my wifes. I will certainly return it for repair as I find it very annoying.

Its a feature nevandmar, you can return it if you want but it will be exactly the same afterward.

Why your wife's one doesn't do it could be because you are not replicating the same situation to trigger it, but its a feature.

I have the exact same problem regarding instant shutdown. It has happend twice so far (in about 4 weeks). First I thought I just accidently pushed down the power button, but now it has happend for the second time. Only by removing the battery i was able to boot the phone up again. Which leads me to think this is software related, though its just a guess ofcourse.

Im hoping the ICS upgrade will fix it, either that or I will return the phone.

I've experienced this as well, except that pressing the power button for a while for a couple of times switches on the phone. I've never had to remove the battery since I set up my phone on November 22.

I thought this could be related to http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-note/469395-galaxy-note-reboot-itself.html.

Can't wait for the ICS upgrade, though I don't know if it'll fix these issues.
