Help Blue light no longer working

Hi, this is my first post, so go easy on me since I'm sure there is a simple solution to this.

When I plug my phone in to charge, the light is red, and usually when it is completely charged, the light turns blue. However, now the light simply remains red. I also noticed that the battery at the top of the screen no longer "moves" to show it is charging, it just stays blue (I hope that makes sense).

I tried searching for this and saw a lot of similar issues, but the difference for me is I don't have any special apps installed to adjust the light or change the color(s). I also noticed a lot of people saying to go to different things in the settings, but when I went to my settings, I couldn't find those same things.

Any input is greatly appreciated! If there are any questions I can answer to make this any easier, please feel free to ask.

Thanks!

What methods have you tried so far? If you list these we wont give you redundant info :)

The only viable method I've attempted is going into the settings to see if I can adjust the LED notifications, but I can't even find anything about LED notifications. Other than that, I've gone through the rest of the settings with no luck. Yeah, pretty sad, but that is about the limit of my knowledge when it comes to this stuff, although I probably doubled my knowledge yesterday reading about increasing the battery life and rooting the phone.

Yes rooting is essential :p check the links in my sig for great videos on how to do things with your phone.

Have you tried turning it off completely and charging it till it was full then turning it on and putting it back on the charger till it was full?

Yeah, I really want to remove those pointless Apps the phone comes with, so I figure I definitely want to root it, I just don't trust myself and figure I will brick it!

I have not tried that, I will give that a go right now. So once it is fully charged and I turn it back on, then plug it into the charger, assuming this works, the light should be blue when it is full?

Theoretically lol
But hey seriously check out the vids Tschofield7 did. I was like you and didnt want to mess my phone up, watched his videos after doing alot of reading and to tell you the truth all you need are his videos if you want to root!

I suggest watching and following this one as its the ROM I'm currently running and happy with :)

YouTube - How to Root Samsung Epic and flash SyndicateFrozenRom 1.1.0

and if the battery light doesnt turn blue root it and flash SRF and see if it turns blue then :)

Awesome, thaks a lot for all of your help! One question....when you say it's the "ROM" you're currently running, what exactly does that mean? Same with "flash SRF". I keep seeing people talking about stuff like this, but I have no idea what they're referring to. Sorry to be a nuisance!

Could you possibly refer me to a place that tells me what all I should do as far as the settings using Juice Defender Ultimate? I read one place where he said to leave it alone, but a lot of other people are saying you should make specific changes. I installed it yesterday and haven't really noticed any difference in my battery. I told you I'm a noob at this! Thanks again for your help and input!!

Read this:
http://androidforums.com/epic-4g-al...oting-samsung-epic-4g-what-you-need-know.html

It will tell you all you need to know about rooting and ROMs and flashing them and what not.

Dont be daunted by the information there as it can do that to people. The how to videos that are linked in the article are the same that I've been refering to and the same that are linked in my sig :p

Juice defender I can not comment on as once I was rooted and flashed the SRF 1.1.0 ROM I have had zero battery issues and it lasts me almost a whole day after spending 8 hours in an area where I roam constantly.
Not being a nuissance at all as I see thats what forums are for is asking questions and being helped out by others that have experienced or have been in your shoes :p
