Bluetooth Activation of Google Now Commands

A couple months ago I bought a new car with all sorts of fancy tech stuff including a Bluetooth connection. In looking for something similar to Siri for Android to use to take full advantage of this, I found a lot of options. After trying a few and finding their Bluetooth integration to frankly suck, I realized that the new "Google Now" stuff has the capabilities (and then some) of Siri. So... I've moved over to using it and, when I use the app directly it's lovely however when I press my Bluetooth button in my car, it's only launching the capability to do the "call" command (still via Google Voice however).

So, in doing some research I came across this solution but it's meant for a Galaxy SIII. The last 3 steps are the part where I got stuck however as double tapping the home button doesn't do squat for me.

So, more research and I find that instead, with Ice Cream Sandwhich, holding the search button is what brings up the Voice Command. I do it and it automatically seems to launch the Google Now Voice which is lovely but I don't see a way to do the last two steps in the aforementioned blog post to tell it to associate the Bluetooth activation with said command.

Anyone out there manage to do this using the app mentioned in the blog? Love any help you can offer!

Update...

Went out to my car, connected phone to Bluetooth and held down the search button... BAM it paused my music and let me speak a Voice Command.

Ok what happens when I press my Bluetooth button in my car? BAM! Launches Google Now but stuck at "Recognizing." So I have to back out.

Try again... now neither works via the Bluetooth again even after a reboot.

*cry*
