Bluetooth and Ford Sync

This may not be the right forum, but I'm not sure which one would be better.

I have two questions regarding Bluetooth and Ford Sync.

1) every third or forth time I hook my phone up to the USB charger in the car Ford Sync tells me that it ca't download all the media files or something. The thing is, I don't have any songs on my phone (Pandora is just fine for me). How can I get Ford Sync to never check for media files?

2) my phone does the auto bluetooth hook up and everything works fine excep when I am both on the phone (i.e. using my car's speakers/mic to talk to someone) and using GPS. In this case, the GPS sound comes through the speaker and obscures the conversation.

I checked the bluetooth profile and the Phone box is checked, and Media is not -- to my understanding, the GPS voice should be media and NOT going through the bluetooth connection, right?

I want the GPS to always be via the phone, never the car. And, in case there's a little confusion, I do not use the Ford Sync GPS, always my phone.

Thanks!
