I listen to podcasts in my car every day. What is essential to me is to have an easy way to pause the playback and to FF and REW through the episode. I'm using Doggcatcher for my podcasts, and I have a bluetooth receiver to send the audio from my phone to my car's Aux jack. This bluetooth receiver has three hard buttons for FF, REW, and a main button to pause/resume playback or end a call.
The problem I'm having is that these buttons work - at most - half of the time. The other half they don't do anything at all. Nothing.
I could blame the bluetooth device, and I could blame the app, but I really think it's more than that.
Any time I use a media application that puts controls on the lock screen, I get mixed results from that as well. I'll start up the app and the controls will be on the lock screen for maybe the first couple times I wake my phone up, but then they'll just stop appearing. I'll get the standard lock screen. This issue with the lock screen controls and the bluetooth controls happens in every media app I've used - the primary ones being Doggcatcher, rdio, and Google Play Music.
What's going on? How can I fix this? I've had this problem for years, and I can't even tell if it's just my phone or an Android thing in general. This kind of stuff would happen to me with my Nexus 4, and every single phone I've had has had some sort of issue with bluetooth.
