Bluetooth and Wifi Unlocker

Hi all

Some time ago, I downloaded the Bluetooth and Wifi Unlocker by Joel Stern from the Google Play store for my HTC One. I liked it so much I bought the license key to upgrade it to the paid version and it's worked completely flawlessly since then.

However, now I have a Galaxy Note 3 as well as the HTC so I naturally wanted to install it on the new device too.

No luck. Google Play says it is incompatible with my current phone (running Android 4.3) as the app is only compatible with 4.2 and below. Interestingly, although my HTC has recently been updated to 4.3, the app continues to work perfectly.

Can anyone tell me a way to fool Google Pay into allowing me to install it on my Note 3 from there please? I dislike using third party sites to download apps as you never know what you are going to actually get.

You could use an app like Astro to save it as an apk file, copy the file to the Note 3, then run it (which will try to install it). No guarantee that it will install under 4.3, though.

Why not just contact the author and ask him if he can upgrade it to 4.3?

Many thanks.

I should have mentioned that I have tried this for quite a while but he is yet to respond. Other reviewers in the App store have also remarked as far back as September that the dev has not responded to them in any way, neither has he updated the app.

I don't want to jump ship to another app as I have spent money on this one and it does exactly what I want. No other apps have exactly the same functionality as this one. Some of the apps provide most of the functionality but none of them provide exactly the same.

I can't even get the apk off my HTC to put it on my Note. It keeps throwing up an error.

Any other suggestions gratefully received please. :)

Yeah, as it's a paid app, you can't use Astro to "back it up". From what I recall (and this was a long time ago), Astro can't access the location where paid apps are installed.

Helium might be able to do it though? It's a bit more complex than using Astro, but worth a go.

Thanks mate. Worth a shot but unfortunately it couldn't help me.

Crap. I wish the dev would update the app...

Nah, it wasn't an IAP, it was a separate install unfortunately.

I guess I shall just have to keep plaguing the dev to update the app. I've sent him a few emails now, going back a few weeks. He hasn't responded to any of them, nor was I really expecting him to do so, so we'll see.

I've always used Android Assistant to make apk files of all my paid apps (rooted and unrooted devices), and use Dropbox with DropSync to move the apk files from my phone to my PC where they're safely backed up. I'm curious why Astro would not be able to do the same with a paid app, or is this a limitation with Astro that the dev implemented?

Android Assistant is an awesome app and I was not aware of its functionality until now, so thank you very much. :)

I installed it on my HTC and it backed up my app perfectly. I uploaded it to Dropbox, so far so good.

I downloaded it to my Note 3 and tried to install it and I get the message 'X App Not Installed' upon trying.

Oh well. I really appreciate the help though, especially as i've now got a backup schedule of important apps going via Android Assistant and Dropsync, which is something that was on my list of things to do anyway.
