Hi I'm hoping to get some help with this. I use my radio (AVH-X3500BHS) to talk on the phone in the car. I used to be able to push the button on the radio's phone menu for voice dialing. I would hear, through my car speakers, "say call, followed by a name or number." I would then say, for example, "Call Diane." It would either call or ask which number to call on, for example if I had a business and cell stored for a person.
Now it uses Google voice command (I also have the option for S-Voice), and I get no confirmation as to whether the phone is listening to me or not. I'm assuming it used to treat the radio as a Bluetooth headset.
If I turn the screen on and then push the button (on the radio) I can get visual confirmation with the swirling rainbow dots. But with the screen off I can't seem to get it to respond. Turning the screen on and waiting for the visual confirmation kind of defeats the hand free benefits I should be getting.
Is there anyway to "force" it to treat my radio as a basic Bluetooth headset, or use a different app so I get audible confirmation that it is waiting for a voice command?
Edit: I think this happened after an update, but I can't remember exactly when. My phone was an S4 Active at the time. I now have an S5 Active, and it behaves the same way.
