Bluetooth Head-Set Question

Bluetooth question.

If I get a blu-tooth headset will I be able to listen to anything on SGS2?

The reason I am asking is I use the Tune-in app [love this app] so I can listen to certain radio stations from all over the world and I am thinking of getting a bluetooth headset.

I have never used bluetooth before:(

sorry, i did not get to this yesterday but i did just test it. it does not play through my bluetooth headseat unfortunately.

That's a shame. But thanks for trying all the same.

Was it the internet radio you tried? I know the built in FM radio needs plug-in head-phones to work, something about the cable acting as an antenna. At least this is how it was with my Nokia N95.

np!
and it wasn't internet radio that i tried. i used the google music app that you can download from the Android market now that i'm part of the Google music beta, which is awesome btw :)

i was also looking around for settings in both the app and phone to see if there was somewhere for bluetooth headsets (other than for calls) but i didn't see anything

Must check out that app:cool:

It sounds like you've gone over the lot and it just ain't gonna do what I want it to. I wish there was more to bluetooth than seemingly allowing you to hear phone calls wirelessly.

i'm not done with this just yet...
you would think that a high end device such as this would have the capabilities to play music over bluetooth, whether that be to a dash unit or an actual set of headphones. that may be possible, just not on an ear piece for calls. i'm gonna keep digging around the interwebz to see if anyone has tried something like that

Top bloke!

Looking forward to reading your findings:)

alright, so it looks like it actually depends on the headset. i'm reading that the headset needs to have A2DP bluetooth profile in order for it to work. i don't have one like this though so i can't confirm or deny this.

edit: yep the phone supports this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1067366
edit2: okay, now i can also confirm that my Plantronics Explorer 230 does not have A2DP so we just need someone with a bluetooth headsept that has A2DP to test this. i believe it will work though. i don't see why not.

here's a quick list i found of some headsets/headphones with A2DP

here's another list of just mono headsets

You have really put a lot into this and it is much appreciated. Thanks!

When I go for a Bluetooth devise (as I now most certainly will) I will definitely make sure it's an A2DP type.

np mate! glad i could help :)

I just found a stereo set here:

7dayshop Bluetooth Wireless Stereo Headphones: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

It seems to be compatible with Samsung:cool:

awesome! yeah as long as it is A2DP compatible, it should work. pretty cool though. i might actually get a bluetooth headphone set myself now :D

:D:D

If you do, it's cheaper to order direct from 7dayshop.com

i'm in US unfortunately so i'd be forced to use ebay/amazon/some other 3rd party seller. that's the only thing about this phone... most official support and accessories etc are from other territories where this phone is out except here :(
basically for us U.S. kids, if we import the phone, we have to be prepared to import everything else or find what we need some how. (ie had to find/download a PDF English version manual for SGSII haha)

edit: cool man on ordering it. let me know how you like 'em please

Thanks, and will do.

Sorry, thought you were in the UK. I would have thought that in the US you guys get to buy everything so much cheaper. When I lived in the States that was the case, especially with electronic stuff and cowboy boots. Yes, I lived in Dallas, Texas:D

I would be very interested to find out how these work/feel as they look too good to be true for the price! Ideally I'd love a pair of beats, but if i'm being realisitc, that'll never happen!

Sorry, forgot to update.

The head-phones arrived about a week ago and I cannot be happier! They allow me to listen to my music and my radio stations [via the web].

They fit really nice in a wrap-around sort of way - they wrap around the back of the head but fit nicely and comfortably. Also, the sound is truly amazing:)
