Help Bluetooth issues

I successfully paired my Galaxy S3 to my Ford car audio by Bluetooth today. But each time I start the car I have to reconnect.

With my old Blackberry you could tell the handset to connect automatically.

How do I set the s3 to do the same?

This may sound random, but I was having a similar experience in my Subaru until I read somewhere to delete all phones from the head unit and then pair the phone using the voice commands / steering wheel buttons rather than using the head unit to pair the phone.

I don't know if this applies in your situation, but it allowed my phone to connect automatically each time.

I don't have a car with built in Bluetooth but bought a bluetooth dongle thingy. I'm sure there's a pattern somewhere, but so far it seems completely random as to whether the phone repairs or not. Sometimes it does, other times it doesn't.

On some cars, you need the phone to be active, ie no screen timeout, before you turn on the car and its bluetooth function. I squeeze the on button before I start the car. I guess a tectile would work also.

Tectiles and other NFC tags will let you enable Bluetooth but won't actually let you connect to a specific Bluetooth device. :(

I had a very similar issue with my 2011 Nissan Murano. I had made a NFC tag to turn BT to discover able when i got in my car and that worked most times, but not always. I had to factory reset my phone the other day because it started acting funny and crashing. I also upgraded my firmware the other day and today it just paired when i started my car, i did not have to do anything, just have blue tooth on when i started the car. I noticed that it also streams music fine now and handles calls fine. Before i had major issue when switching between the 2 and it would not always switch over to calls when i was streaming music, but now BT seems to work just fine.

The longer I have this new android phone, the more I realize the technology is way beyond my understanding. What is an NFC Tag? What is a tectile? What is a head unit?

I just want to use my phone hands free in the car with minimal intervention.

A NFC tag is a sticker that you can scan with your phone that launches pre programmed actions or programs ie turn on blooth tooth, make phone discover-able, open pandora, send text to wife "i'm heading home now" can all be done with one scan of the NFC tag. Tectile is samsungs brand of NFC tag, any NFC tag can be used. You can program them to do many things, it's really quite amazing.

I'm not sure what you mean by head unit.

I had to use a NFC tag in my car because Bluetooth would never connect unless i made it discover-able and using a NFC tag was a easy way to do that. But now that i got the new firmware update from at&t the phone connects on it's own with no issues and just works. Have you updated your phone?

So I have a bluetooth problem with my new S3 as well. I have a new headunit in my car with a bluetooth headset and it simply wont pair with the headunit in my car. when i go to connect from the s3, this little box pops up, but goes away too fast to even see what it says, after much trying I finally saw it said: "confirm password is *****" with the options okay or cancel which is weird because i didnt even know my headunit had a password...with my old phone, i was able to just connect to bluetooth, find the headunit, and connect to it. I tried clicking okay anyway, but it did nothing. Do you think this is the phone's problem or maybe an issue with the headunit that I can call bestbuy about?

Does anyone know how to connect to bluetooth on a headunit and find my device? Or cancel all connected devices on the headunit like someone above said, since I really dont need my old phone connected to that anymore...thanks!!!

EDIT: I was able to connect it by doing through the headunit instead of the phone, but it wont automatically connect, which annoys me that I have to pair it every time I get into the car unlike with my old phone (when i turned on bt it would autmatically know to connect to my radio)

I bought my Samsung Galaxy S III last saturday and was unable to see/connect any bluetooth headsets until turned off the Power Saving mode.

Try the following:
1. On your phone turn off the power saving mode go to "Settings > Power saving".
2. Next, turn on the phones bluetooth and power on the headset.
3. If the phone does not see your headset hold down the headset answer button and press the phones scan button.
4. Once the headset or device is paired choose Paired settings and make sure the Call audio is checked.
