Bluetooth keyboard, want to hide onscreen one

masshuu

Lurker
So i got a bluetooth keyboard for my phone(Atrix, android 2.3.4) and I was wondering if its possible to hide the onscreen one when the bluetooth one is in use.

You can d/l keyboard apps that do that. I prefer Hacker's Keyboard. It also includes a feature to automatically hide the keyboard when a physical keyboard is detected.

I tried Hacker's Keyboard, it looks nice but it wasn't hiding. I checked the settings and it looked like it was enabled

Then try swipe gestures. This will enable you to slide up, down, left, right to do a certain action. The default swipe down is to close the keyboard. If that doesn't work, go into the settings and play around.

Two questions:
1. Have you tried your bt keyboard w/ the multi-touch keyboard, does it input correctly?
2. What app are you using (if I may ask) that this issue is occurring? Or is it universal?

The default keyboard doesn't disappear at all(no options to make it go away) and it won't go away in any application without stopping input

Let me rephrase this, can you type anything via bt keyboard while it is paired with the device (regardless of the default keyboard) into a text field?

the bluetooth keyboard works just fine for typing stuff in when the onscreen keyboard is visible. when its not, i can't enter text into text feilds

i can reduce the size of that keyboard in landscape mode to 15% so most of the screen is visible although it is a bit of a pain to switch around every time i use the keyboard
