Help Bluetooth media audio keeps dropping

Jeanne Gold

Lurker
I have 2 tablets:
Google Nexus 7 (2013)
Google Nexus 7 (2014)
both updated to Android Lollipop

and 2 headsets:
LG HBS-700
Motorola Buds

Since both devices upgraded to Lollipop I'm experiencing a regular problem which is growing in frequency: the media sound keeps dropping.

In other words, I'm listening to audio over the BT headset and the sound vanishes. The connection still remains, but there is no sound.

I have to turn off my headset and back on to restore sound. (In other words, disconnect and reconnect to the bluetooth.)

Happens with both headsets on both tablets.

Also having problems with my tablets forgetting how to communicate with my headsets. I have to unpair and forget the device, restart the tablet and then reconnect.

However, that is also often a problem, taking multiple attempts before it sees the headset and when it does finally see it (either one), multiple attempts to get it to pair.

Bluetooth was not always fun with Kit Kat, but it worked most of the time. Now the sound is lost about every 5-10 minutes with Lollipop.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Forgot to mention: turned off (deselected) phone connection to see if this would solve the problem. Nope. No change.

I was wondering what a nexus 7 (2014) was. Lol. But yeah I've experienced similar BT drops. But not as often as you. Have you tried the obligatory factory reset?

I have an update. I'm also experiencing weird static like sounds with my headphones but not with the built-in speaker. Happens with both headsets on both tablets, again suggesting it's a problem with my tablets. Any thoughts?
