Bluetooth Pairing

I am a limousine driver and use Garmin Smartphone Link on my Galaxy S4 to send destinations to my garmin device. The issue I am having is after being in a car for 6 to 8 hours, the bluetooth really drains my battery life.

What I would like to do is to create a tasker profile so that before the Smartphone link app is opened, a bluetooth pairing is set up with my garmin, then when the app is closed, the bluetooth connection with the garmin is automatically disconnected.

By going this route, I would only be using my bluetooth for just the time I am sending addresses, instead of as it is now where I am using the bluetooth whenever the garmin and the phone are in proximity.

Is this possible? Any help in setting this up would be really appreciated.

Wouldn't it be easier to just plug the phone into the accessory socket in the car?

Actually no. I drive the extended limousines. The phone is at the back of the car so that I get the right destination from the customer. It also usually takes place with a lot of activity. If I had to try to memorize the address until I got to the front, then the customer had to wait while I inputed everything, it really won't work that way
