Bluetooth speaker call/music

Ok, here it goes. I was looking for a Bluetooth speaker for in my car that u can use for playing music and stories for the kids in the backseats. I wanted it to attach to the rear window and with a solar panel so it can always charge and u can just leave it there. After a long search I thought I found one on the net, and it just got in today.

There was a problem however; it seems only to work with actual calls, and NOT when I want to play mp3s with it. Any of you guys knowo a workaround perhaps? Something software- ish? Something that makes my mp3s look like calls?

If not, do you guys know something that DOES do what I want? ( Something I can leave in the backseat s of the car, that charges itself and connects with my phone the moment I get in the car, and can play mp3s from my phone),

Tnx!

Welcome to the forum, wouterkuyper!

Before we can help you, can you please let us know which bt speaker and solar charger you got? Also, what phone do you have? Depending on your car model/year, does your phone pairs up with your car audio when you start the car?

Have you tried pairing up that bt speaker and your phone outside of the car, just to eliminate car as a variable? If it pairs up, can you go to Bluetooth setting in your phone and under a list of paired up device see your speaker with "Connected to phone and media audio"? Then, try the same in the car to make sure it gets connected correctly. Another thing, are you sure your bt speaker is charged up? Prior to trying charging it up with solar battery, use a regular wall usb charger first. Keep in mind, those solar chargers need direct exposure to sunlight, if you have a small solar panel it will take a very long time to charge up. If speaker is not charged up, there is a possibility it will not play music.

Hi! Thx for your welcome and reply.

Apparently I wasn't clear enough :-)

In my car I have no system that is of interest. That's why I bought a Bluetooth speaker. My phone is a galaxy s3, and it does connect to the speaker. However once connected it only does calls, and not mp3. So for a hands-free call it's perfect. But I bought it to use for mp3s for my kids in the back.
It says "solar multipoint speakerphone"

I think I just bought the wrong hardware, but I was hoping for a software solution to that.

Got it! I just googled it and see a lot of generic devices like that. Unfortunately, they only support bluetooth protocol for speakerphone, not the media audio. There is no way around it. I have a similar problem in my car (2007 model) where my audio system only supports speakerphone protocol. Recently my Sirius received broke and I wanted to stream my satellite radio from a phone, but couldn't.

So I'm using this speaker: http://androidforums.com/samsung-ga...-wireless-multimedia-speaker-w-lots-pics.html - actually reviewed in the forum. Yes, you can find cheaper ones on ebay, but out of reputable companies this is the cheapest bluetooth 4.0 wireless speaker you can get for under $30. It will pair up with our S3, it has micro-usb port to be charged up from car charger or solar charger, it has on/off switch so you use it when you need it only, and also input for audio cable to run from headphone jack of your phone.

Thx for your help,I was already afraid that i bought the wrong thing.

The one you recommend does sound good, but it's not really what I was looking for. I don't need any buttons on the thing :-) and I want it to stick to the rear window, where their little hands can't touch it :-)

Thx though,

Odd that all those thechies around haven't found a way around (or don't bother enough)

Trust me, no matter how hard you hide things in the car, those little hands will grow soon and find their way around. I got two little ones at home...

With the speaker you got, it's usually designed to be clipped to sun visor next to you to use as a speaker phone. The limitation is not just software but a chip they used inside which is hardcoded to support specific protocol without audio playback controls.

If you want to save money, I usually shop around at dx.com - you will get a better quality control then ebay, bigger selection, and the same free shipping to us.
