Bluetooth terrible sound quality with headset

Hi All

I have a Galaxy S2 from Orange UK. When pairing with my car or a bluetooth headset the sound quality is so bad it's unusable. Orange supplier KE2 firmware.

Noticed there are two bluetooth services running (Settings/Apps/Services).

Both are different sizes (com.broadcom.bt.app.pbap 2.1mb and com.android.bluetooth 2.6 mb).

I did try killing/stopping the com.android.bluetooth and sound quality improved although I'm sure this isn't correct for normal operation.

Anyone else have the same problem? Should both these services be running together?

Love the phone but might have to send it back if I can't get bluetooth working?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Mark.

I have not checked what services run when I am using headphones, but I bought these from 7dayshop for

Add me to the list. I am using the on-board bluetooth and if I try to make an outgoing call it is shocking quality but incoming seems ok!

Everything was perfect on my original Samsung Galaxy. Any ideas???

I have the exact same issue!

I have tried the following bluetooth devices with the same quality:
1. Nokia headset
2. Jabra SP200 visor clip
3. Jabra Headset.

I have even had the handset replaced by Orange and both devices are the same.

I'm totally stuck! Any Ideas?

I have this issue with my car so rang Orange.

They suggested that while I was on a call, I switch back to handset, then bluetooth back to the car and it clears it up.

It does usually work although sometimes have to do it twice.

They also said they were aware of the problem and are waiting on Samsung for an update on it. I spoke to a Samsung handset specialist about it when I was put through by Orange over another issue and he said he had never heard of the issue. In saying that, the same guy told me its impossible to move my bought apps onto my new phone so he lost all credibility.

The person I spoke to at Orange also said some Sony Ericsson models have the same issues.

With me it sounds like a Dalek but the other party can hear me clearly.

For some reason the SGS2 BT is compressing the BT bandwidth hence the poor quality. I think Samsung is going to fix this with 2.3.4, which is expected in a couple of weeks. Leaked/beta 2.3.4 already floating around.

I am having the exact same issue. I have just received a replacement SGS2 from Orange UK today... same problem. How do I find out when 2.3.4 is available?

I guess by periodically connecting it to Kies. Or browsing these forums...

Anyone from a carrier other than orange getting this issue?
Mine is unlocked and I yet have the issue. I have adjusted the equaliser settings a bit so it is acceptable, but the sound is simply dull/compressed.

+1 here. I did start a thread recently about this issue with my BMW BT built in kit, perhaps a mod could merge them so the info is in one space?

I've had many complaints about the quality of speech from my side.. Incoming sounds good to me.. but outgoing is terrible..

Lets hope they fix this soon as it really is important especially if you use this phone for work in a car or van etc...

BT audio also consumes a huge amount of battery. I find mediaserver listed as one of the battery hogs after using BT audio for a while.

What fix? I am on KF3 firmware (one of the latest official releases, updated from KE8) and it sure does not improve any BT audio. Am waiting for the 2.3.4 KG official firmware to be released to see if it will fix it.

I should say - I moved the THREE and no longer have this issue.

Probably because it won't drop to 2g (as Three are switching off the 2g roaming gradually).
It also seems to become active in a few seconds after a tower swap-over. Much better for me although YMMV

Well that is very good news. Orange has got KG3 - 2.3.4 ahead of unlocked phones?

Hopefully it will soon be released for all phones. KG3 seems to have generally got good feedback.

How did you get the fix droid? My bluetooth to car in built blue tooth sound quality is rubbish to the point of unusable.

(First post, hello everyone :))

Mine is fixed too!

To let you know what I did... I simply opened Kies (desktop version, not air), connected my SGS2 via USB and it automatically told me there was an firmware update available so followed the instuctions. Just done a quick test in my car and all seems fine! I am very happy now!!

It would have been so easy for Orange to let me know this update was coming - they really should have more information about updates and what is included - it would have saved me and them a lot of bother.

This is build KG3 (build number GINGERBREAD.BVKG3) however my android version still reads 2.3.3.
