Bluetooth voice dialing horrible

I have a Jawbone Icon bluetooth that worked great with my old Blackberry voice dialing. Now with my Android (Motorola Electrify M), it is horrible at voice recognition. Almost useless. I can say numbers and it works fine, but it just won't accept names, always mis-hearing. Is this typical for Android? Any suggestions? I need something hands free! Thanks.

I've seen other threads on this now, and it seems JellyBean and Blue Tooth voice dial are a problem. SO...those in states like California, where hands free while driving is mandatory, what are you doing with Jelly Bean?

Some voice dialing apps are better than others. The one that came with the Droid X was great because you could train it.

S-voice is ok, but not great, and google search is good, but takes too long with the confirmation and explaining how to use it.
As for it not understanding names, I've learned that most of them have trouble with less than "normal" names, but if you give that contact a nickname and use that for voice dialing, it works better.

Thanks. I'm real new to Android OS. Is there a nickname field in contacts? I didn't see it....or do you just rename the name with a nickname?

I found it.....it's an option within the edit of the contact.

Wow, last week, I think voice dial was upgraded automatically. I had been using manual voice dial (on the phone) or saying numbers I could recall. But then I noticed it seemed different, I tried using it by name, and voila, now it works like a charm. Do I thank Google for fixing it?

OK, one problem. It seems that after a minute, when my phone "locks" when screen dims, it doesn't work until I unlock phone. Not the best for hands off. But better than not working at all!
