Bookmarks in Google Chrome

I have an LG Nexus 5 and am trying to add a bookmark to Google Chrome browser. According to Google, there should be a star to click to start the process. There is no star or any symbol that I can find. Will give "thanks" for help. Thank you.

Hit the menu button (3 vertical lines) in the upper right corner, the star should be hidden there. Or at least that's where it's always been for me (don't have a Nexus so could be leading you down a bad, bad road).

Chrome should behave the same on every device.

On mine it's on a popup-menu launched by the phone menu button
I don't have any 3-bars in upper right hand corner.

That's because Samsung refused to move away from the physical menu button before the S5

Then it seems chrome does not behave the same on every device.

That's s hardware distinction. The star was located in the menu, regardless of how you access it.
