[fishypops]

I read that the are a whole load of free books that you can download from Google. How do I get these ?

I managed to open .mobi files with kindle. How do you open .prc files ?

There's a books tab right in the Android Market where you can get books for your phone...

https://market.android.com/books

Yeah, but that doesn't work in all countries, sadly.

That's right, the Google Books is not available internationally.
Fortunately, there are alternatives: Aldiko or La Puta are quite good apps, where you can download free books directly inside these apps.

Yes, that is my problem. Canada.... I will try Aldiko. Thanks.

I didn't realize they weren't available for everyone. Is that because that a lot of them are paid books?

One word: Copyright...

The same problem is with the Google Music. I think Google is negotiating the situation to make Books and Music international, but I'm not sure how far they are. Just recently they have pushed Books with 3 free samples to selected phones on international markets. Perhaps, they are making some progress (at least with the free content).

La Puta? I wonder what that means in Spanish, in my language that means "the Prostitute".

Only if there are no DRMs attached. Most books from Amazon and especially from Barnes & Nobles have DRMs.

You have to sign up with amazon no matter what, but it doesn't affect you using files you already have.
