Root [Boost Mobile] AOSP

Any boost mobile S3 owner know if there are any fully functional working AOSP, AOKP 4.3 roms for the boost galaxy s3. Im really looking more for anyone whos flashed/tested Slim Bean or Pac man? not really interested in touchwiz, kinda feel like ill stay stock if im gonna be on TW. thanks for any answers as it seems like a huge hassle to root/flash a rom on this phone. i kinda miss my s2 lol.
 
Yep, check the working roms thread in the sticky threads.. rooting is easy and flashing is the same as any other phones recovery, cwm and twrp are the don't change between phones
 
The only problem you're going to run in to is the AOKP ROMs won't run 4g and mms at the same time. 3g and mms work great but if you have 4g turned on you won't be able to send mms messages. Just go into setting and switch it to CDMA with no LTE on and you can send your mms then. When you're done just turn LTE back on. :D
 
I've tried a couple of times a month ago and I could not get 4g to work... I gave up and have not tried since. MOAR is a decent rom, that's what I've been using

Nope as of now something needs to be edited for us to get 4g we probably need a new build actually because I've had 4g on cm 10.2 but that was when it was a nightly and I edited the apns myself to get 4g.. I tried that on dirty unicorn and 4g wouldn't connect

But as for M. O. A. R best tw rom imo and 4g works with a profile update

U guys should contact moped from the virgin mobile thread.

His fixes get 4g on any aosp ROM I've tried so far. MMS also works as long as you toggle of LTE

Identical phones so maybe the fix just needs the apns to be edited?

That's a good idea. One of these guys with 4G should talk with him and see if he could hook them up. 4G is wishful thinking for me right now. I wonder how long it'll take them to get it in my area? Heh, Sprint! :rolleyes: lol

Seriously though, I've got access to wifi at home and a good many of the others places I'm at. Also, my 3G speeds around here really aren't that bad at all. I see some of these guys posting some really slow speeds and I feel for them. Especially if they're using it for their primary.

I gotta say that 4g thing has stopped me from rooting and flashing anything. So NO ONE with the boost mobile s3 is running a aosp file with working 4g? I'm running Wi-Fi right now but you never know when you'll need lte. No Wi-Fi at work (believe it or not). However I also don't have lte at work. Is really that big of a pain to flash a aosp rom on this phone? I don't mind rooting, and know the process, but I DON'T WANT TO be stock rooted or on a tw rom. I'm only interested in aosp

Recommendations??? Honestly I would do TW if the Rom was right and at LEAST 4.3. Tell me something good because I am tired of waiting on Samsung for the update. I ran 4.2.2 on my gs2 and miss lockscreen widgets among other things?
 
I would recommend moar, but it's not 4.3 it does have a few things added from 4.3 though... As for a 4.3 based rom someone else is going to have to give a recommendation.
 
However if you were rooted and had a custom recovery you could try any rom very easy and if you did not like it you can flash back to a back up of the current rom your on now.... very easily! !!!
 
I would go with MOAR or Wicked Sensations. I switch back and forth between the two when running Touchwiz.

I also like Dirty Unicorns AOKP. 4g isn't an issue with me since there's no 4g in my area yet. Sad right? No time in the near future either.

Sorry to hear that and yeah no 4g or at least for me idk about others. This week I'll be doing some tinkering with some asop roms and see if I can get 4g and mms because when I was in cm 10.2 nightly I had both but I manually configured it. As far as recommend roms moar is good but I prefer asop myself but could never get it to be fully functional so I have just been stuck with moar it's not bad at all its better than stock so I'll get what I can take for now I'm sure once we get a developer or 2 from the other boost froms we'll get everything sorted out but who knows when that is..

i just cant see rooting to go 4.2.2. when id be missing out on the stock 4.3 update. idk. probably sounds stupid but i want the most current features if i can get them.

i'm familiar with nandroid backups, again im coming from a rooted samsung galaxy s2, before that a rooted htc evo 3d, before that a rooted evo 4g, before that a rooted LG Optimus S. i KNOW root lol. and with all that i have never seen a phone that had so many hoops to jumo through (except the optimus s) as the galaxy s3. It seems unless you have TWRP recovery doing a backup and restore is a pain on this phone. i could be wrong and PLEASE correct me if i am. and i know what you mean but i dont want to have to root to regret i did because my phone is so glitchy id rather be back to stock. on the galaxy s2 with boost it took like 4 minutes to return it to stock, dont seem like thats the case with the s3? again i could be wrong. thats why im asking the guys whove had this phone longer than me. ive only had mines about a month.

i like that wicked sensations look, thats a TW Rom id do. its still 4.1.2 though right? i get spotty 4g coverage. i live on the west side of cleveland, and around there for like a 2 mile square radius i get 4g lte, downtown cleveland where i work, no 4glte, i was in brunswick, ******* BRUNSWICK, OH (25 minutes south of cleveland) on this past sunday and had 4g lte the whole time lol. so i dont get constant 4g lte, and i have wi-fi at home, but lets say im commuting to work and need 4g, i would like to get it if im in a area where its available. I would like to flash aokp but id have to do some thinking to see if im okay sacraficing 4g. never know when its needed.

i dont mind manually confirguring it if were talking about apn's. thats simple enough. i just want aosp with working 4g and mms and sms like i had on slim bean on my gs2.

Yep. I'm running Wicked Sensations right now with the KToonsez 747 kernel and yes its still 4.1.2 . I really like MOAR but it's just got more stuff on it that I use. I get better performance out of Wicked Sensations.

As for going with the other ROMs, I definitely recommend Dirty Unicorns. I've got the ROM posted with the updater-script already added so it'll flash with MG2.
 
i was unaware you guys didnt have a fix already, my bad. ive had a working lte apn for boost for a while now, thats how i got lte working on the virgin s3. if you take the apn from my github account and pack it with the stuff from mopeds patch for virgin you should be up and running in no time but you will still not have a way to send mms on lte
