Root [Boost Mobile] AOSP

may need some adjustment for a samsung. take the fixes from the virgin fix and use the entries from this one, the individual values that is, like the mmsc, port numbers, things like that, or try it as is or whatever, its all there you just gotta figure out what works, i dont have an s3 so thats on you guys

newer versions of cm may have it by default which would explain it just working, if i remember correctly someone said they were gonna work on getting it worked into the default apn, but anything pre 10.2 wouldnt have it by default. need to post up a generic boost and virgin thread with the correct info but im stuck on tapatalk so if someone else wants to share it woth the world that would be great. then we wont have this issue
 
wait yea i already went through this with you guys, lte and mms wouldnt be working at the same time obviously but there is already an lte fix and an mms fix. theres nothing i or anyone on the virgin team can do about that sorry

double check your partitions, make sure that 14 is system and 15 is data or this could permanently brick your.phone

this should however fix the lte and mms just like the virgin mobile fix, slightly modified version of mopedryders zip with my boost apn. flash it through cwm, only works on cm/aosp based roms to my knowledge

also if someone would be kind enough to reupload on something othet than 4shared and make a thread dedicated to this fix that would be wonderful

well i decided im going to root my s3, but im not going to do it until 12/4 which is the next time im off with nothing to do. it seems like so much work for aosp i want to do it on a day when im off with nothing to do, and thats my off day the wednesday after next when my wife is at work and unable to disturb lol. i would like to have someone whos flashed a aosp rom (perferable Dirty Unicorns which is what id like to flash) available to answer questions or assist on gtalk or something? any takers?

I have already modified the newest Dirty Unicorns ROM to flash on your Boost S3 too. These are the steps you will need to follow in order to get it working:

Download the Piggyback zip (not needed if you don’t have 4G)- http://www.mediafire.com/?i678ydl9wv2o75g This may work but you will not have MMS. You will have to toggle off LTE in order to get 3G and MMS working. This piggyback zip get's 4G working on some ROMs but not all. All I can say is to try it and see if it works for you. You may get lucky. There is also another thread where Junkie posted some info on how to get 4G working on AOSP ROMs. You may want to give that a read too. I don't have 4G so I haven't been able to test it.

The link to the tutorial to fix mms is below by Alpineman. Some people are able to get 3G data by just disabling LTE. I only am able to get 1x data until I flash this xml in the tutorial.

ROM & GAPPS links can be found in the Working ROMS/MODS/KERNELS/MODEMS/ECT for the Boost S3 thread here- http://androidforums.com/boost-mobi...ng-roms-mods-kernels-modems-ect-boost-s3.html It will be located in the AOSP section under the following- MODDED FOR BOOST 4.3 DIRTY UNICORN V4.0

1)Place the ROM, GAPPS, Boost xml file, and Piggyback zip on your sd card. NOTE- PiggyBack file need only be flashed if you are attempting to get 4G. If you have only 3G, the Boost xml file will fix that. No need to flash the PiggyBack.zip.
2)Boot into your recovery.
3)Now’s a good time to make a recovery backup!!
4) Do a factory reset, wipe cache, and dalvik cache.
5)Flash the ROM and then Reboot the phone and LET IT BOOT UP COMPLETELY.
6)Flash GAPPS. Reboot the phone and LET IT BOOT UP COMPLETELY.
7)(Not needed if you don’t have 4G) Boot back into recovery and flash the Piggyback zip. While still in recovery, select fix permissions.
8)Reboot the phone and LET IT BOOT UP COMPLETELY.

The following will fix your data & MMS . I didn’t have data until after I applied the Boost xml file.

For those of you who don’t have access to wifi, now you’ll see why you’ve done what I mentioned above.

ONE NOTE BEFORE USING THE APN BACKUP RESTORE APP. WHEN YOU OPEN THE APP IT WILL SAY APNs CANNOT BE RESTORED OR DELETED ON THIS DEVICE. DISREGARD THIS. IT WORKED PERFECTLY ON MY PHONE.

You should now have data and MMS. As I mentioned earlier, I am unable to test 4G. Hopefully yours will work

I'm still testing I have to find the right rom but I believe the zip works perfectly it's just a matter of finding a functional rom I tried dirty unicorn 4.3 and it didn't work but I think that's a du bug so I'm going to try other asop roms But before while we should have at least one

The zip works perfectly I believe thanks it's just finding a good rom now something stable that will accept the apn changes because dirty unicorn v4.0 didn't lol but it still has bugs so I'm looking around I'm trying to find a good 4.3 rom but I might end up just going with a 4.2.2 one
 
I thought some of the guys were already getting 4G on the CM ROMs using the piggyback zip. Will it get mms & 4G at the same time?

I thought you said you had data? So this wasn't on an AOSP ROM then. Your were talking about getting data on Touchwiz.

I misunderstood you. I though you had gotten 4G to work on one of the AOSP ROMs and we're asking about the CyanogenMod ROMs specifically.

As far as I know the only way anyone has gotten 4g on asop was by manually correcting the apns that's what I did when I had 4g and could get mms but not send... the piggybackzip never worked for me
 
might be incorrect, might be a bad way of wiping the thing. you do have to flash, reboot wait for data, then reboot again for it to work

i really dont know, i dont have one so i cant test

Maybe maybe but I did I rebooted a few times after waiting several minutes because I had no data
Then about the 3rd reboot it would connect to 3g very quickly disconnect and never re connected but in the system status it said it was connected
