Root [Boost Mobile] [CyanogenMod] d2spr or d2lte?

Should I switch to d2lte for my S3 or keep using d2spr? Currently using d2spr M3 right now but am considering switching over if it's better to use that version.

Problem, though, I don't wanna redownload everything on my phone. :(

Do I need to remove the asserts from it or install normally?

No need to do that with d2lte builds. They are unified for multiple carriers. The only thing you'll need to do is make sure you flash GAPPS and the new APN fix for Boost.

CM11- This is the link to the d2lte build. It is what you will need.

APN FIX -

GAPPS-
[GAPPS][4.4.x/4.3.x] OFFICIAL Up-to-Date PA-GOOGLE APPS (All ROM's) [2014-05-10] - xda-developers

You will also need the GAPPS. I recommend the PA 0-Day mini modular GAPPS. Flash the GAPPS right after flashing the ROM. I would stay away from the Google full package GAPPS. It removes a bunch of AOSP features.

Steps to flash.
Download ROM, GAPPS, and APN FIX to phone.
Boot into Philz.
Select factory reset. Then choose install a new ROM
Flash CM11
Flash GAPPS
Flash APN FIX
Wipe cache (optional)
Wipe Dalvik (optional) - the Factory reset /clean ROM install does this for you. I'm old fashioned and still do both cache wipes. :D
Reboot
Profit.

EDIT- Make sure that you're running the newest version of Philz recovery too!

Thanks for the reply, guy. (unintentional rhyme)

Um... is there a way I can update /without/ wiping my phone? I got some things on there that I don't wanna get wiped off and just want to update the ROM.

If you are updating the same ROM, you have the option of doing a "Dirty Flash". That's where you wipe the cache, then wipe the Dalvik cache and just flash the new ROM. If there have been a lot of changes to the ROM since the last version you flashed, I do not recommend this and I would do a clean install.

The 1st thing you'll want to do is make a recovery backup with Philz Recovery. That'll save you in case something goes wrong.

As an added precaution before starting, you may also want to copy all of the data from your internal storage and micro sd card to your computer. It just depends on how valuable the data is you have stored on your phone. If it cannot be replaced, saving it to the computer is highly recommended.

You will also want to make it a habit of saving important things such as pictures and videos. I save mine to my computer every so often in case anything happens.

As far as apps and app data, I would use Titanium Backup to backup your apps and data. Titanium has a batch option that will save all the apps and data at the same. I highly recommend purchasing the Pro key for the app too. Titanium Backup is one of the most important apps I have on my phone and it has saved my butt on quite a few occasions. It is also an app that I use almost DAILY.

Here is the User's Guide for Titanium Backup. I know the app very well but trust me, this guide comes in handy.

Titanium Backup User’s Guide:
Titanium Backup User's Guide | Titanium Track

One thing that you will want to do is make sure your Titanium Backup folder is on you micro sd card. That way there is no way a ROM flash can touch the data. If it is on the internal storage of the phone that's OK. Just use a computer or a rooted file explorer to move it to the ext micro sd card. If your Titanium folder is on the internal storage of the phone when you do your backup, that's cool. Just make sure you move it to the ext micro sd card after you've finished the backup. To be safe, I would also save that Titanium Backup folder to your computer. Open it up and make sure it has all of your apps in it. :D

Once you have done a clean install of the ROM and have logged onto Play, you can download Titanium Backup, open it's settings, select Preferences, select Backup Folder Location and then tap the DETECT TAB and choose search the WHOLE DEVICE. Once it finds the folder where your backups are located, selected it. Then, down in the bottom right hand corner of the screen, you will see Use The Current Folder Tab. Select it. Titanium Backup now knows where to look for your backup up apps and data.

These steps in the link below are after you have backed up your apps with Titanium Backup and made a ROM backup with Philz Recovery.

This link will take you to the AOSP section of the Working ROMS/MODS/KERNELS/MODEMS/ECT for the Boost S3 thread.

Once you have done a fresh install of the ROM, GAPPS, and APN FIX, you can sign into Play, download Titanium Backup and restore your apps. I only recommend restoring the app data that you absolutely have to have. I usually restore all of my apps without their data and then go back and add the app data to each app one at a time. I usually only restore app data to 5 or 6 apps. Some people choose to restore all of their app data and they report having no issues doing it this way. Personally, I have had issues in the past doing mass data restoration. That is the reason I choose to restore the app data that I need. It's usually apps like Task List, and other apps I've logged in to. Tapatalk is another of the apps I choose to restore data to. It's your choice how you want to do it. You may be able to restore all of your apps and data with no issues at all. Then again, you may end up with a bunch of Force Close notifications. :)

Hmmmmm, pretty sure that covers it.

If you have any other questions, please ask before proceeding with the flash.
