Root [Boost Mobile] Lte throttling?

I've heard that some of the guys on MOAR and Wicked Sensations have been able to go way over the limit without being throttled.

Yes. I've seen multiple things about the throttle stuff. From what I can tell and of my knowledge, throttling is done server side, not our side, just like we cannot get free 3g service without paying our bill unless they at the office decide to "not" shut the service off ie: they control it not us.
You can say what you want but I still have not seen substantial proof it's on our end, no matter what the mod may be. I've seen a 50/50 thing about some it supposidly works and others say no it does not work.
For me the few fixes out there did not work.
You can put 300mph on a speedometer, but it doesn't mean the car can actually go that fast or even does ;);)

Yeah I've read about it too that moar and wicked don't really report how much data you actually use for example you can you almost 1.5 gb and if you go look at your account I'll show a way lower number then that. At the time period people where saying that before that 4.3 update came out Idk if that's still in the ROM now though on Carbon with you man lol

Yeah. I heard some guys that were up to like 15 gigs of data for a month and weren't being throttled. The thing is that It wasn't just 1 or 2 times that I heard of people getting data way over the cap w/o ever being throttled. I read were a bunch of people were reporting it. It would be nice to have that feature in every ROM! lol :D
I haven't heard of any of the AOSP ROMs being able to do it. :dontknow:

the throttle maybe on the server however the key is on the phone. it reports the data usage. i never said thethrottle was on the phone

It can and may be on the phone but they keep track of it on their side, so anything we do on our phones won't change the fact that if we use over the limit, they see it on that side and throttle it.
The one we have doesn't report back to them, it just notifies us via the phone that we are close to or over said limit for our benefit, it doesn't act as a report tool to the carrier side.

I just got my stupid text too... just posted in the other thread, woops double post sorry... lol

That's why I bought a smartphone, so I can have iden data speeds without the walkie talkie!

Me too main selling point I got this message a few weeks ago but I never use that much data anyway because in my area sprint is so bad either you'll have 4g or no service or 2g no 3g lbs so I'm usually on wifi and otg I use 4g but that's me I know a lot of people use way over that cap and this is unfair that they just keep throttling if they ever upgraded there tower's the service wouldn't be so bad

I hear ya bro. I bet I haven't used over a gig and a half since they've started this throttling. I'm too am usually on wifi.

I'm out in the field most of the days and tether my tablet for maps n gps nonstop and not allowed to cache 3rd party Google maps underlay, so I need constant data flow. I have no clue nor did I have a need to know how much data I use a month. Probably use less than 2.5Gb, but I have no clue...

But I signed up to boost for the $50 per month for unlimited everything... 2g is NOT a sufficient data flow for ANYTHING and should not be considered part of unlimited data! 3g fine, but 2g unbelievable!

not to mention that I paid I think it was $400 for a 4G phone not for an iden phone.

Totally Agreeable no one's arguing with that they're going to start to loose a lot of customers because it's just unfair at this point it's like the people that stick with sprint and boost/vm are being punished getting throttled and already having poor service there's no reason to not really switch to T-Mobile or another carrier we want to be able to use what we pay for already bought the expensive 4g phone which wasn't even the best phone compared to other phones when it was released they don't get enough high-end phones but I guess that's starting to change because boost is getting the s5 and they're still throttling and won't upgrade there towers I'm seriously considering T-Mobile

I've considered T-Mobile also. Especially when they took my $35 plan from me. I had convinced them to allow me to keep my $35 plan when I upgraded from the Prevail to my Marquee. I had earned that $35 monthly payment and had never been late on a payment in the years of being with Boost. I still think it's bullcrap that Boost took that plan from their customers who've been with them for so long. Anyways, the Marquee ended up having to be sent into LG to be repaired. I contacted Boost to let them know this and that I would be switching to my older flip-phone until LG returned my Marquee from warranty repair. I was concerned Boost would try and take my $35 plan from me again so I asked them several times and was reassured I would be allowed to keep it when my Marquee was returned and reactivated.

Guess what? Not only did they straight up lie to me and not allow my $35 monthly payment when I reactivated the Marquee, they said they had never told me anything like that. What's even worse, they tried to up my freaking payment to $45. After talking with more people than I care to count, I was finally given a $40 monthly payment. I came very VERY close to switching carriers then. I was pissed. Not only did they lie to me and take my $35 monthly payment, they also basically called me a liar when they said they'd never told me that they would honor any type of $35 payment with the Marquee. I told then to look back over my records but of course that did absolutely no good. LOL!

If things keep being taken from us, you can best bet they will lose many of their long time customers. Especially when there are carriers out there with similar payment plans and better coverage.

Yep I had the same exact situation as you when I upgraded my prevail to the warp they took my $35 plan I even called and complained and they told me essential deal with it. People are getting tired of them it's only a matter of time they don't provide good enough service to be taking certain benefits and throttling people to 2g when they barely have good 3g, I live in Indiana and my service is supposed to be halfway decent says boost reps it's been times when I had to call and ask was I in a dead zone because I had no data and all my calls where dropping they told me where sorry about that but "we're upgrading the towers" so it'll get better I still only get 1bar and 1x in my neighborhood, they also told people in Chicago the same thing I know for a fact in the Chicagoland area almost everyone had sprint at one point but they got tired of how bad the service was if your not in the city you don't have good service so they started switching Tmobile and Verizon

I doubt that I will leave Boost any time soon but I feel conned and betrayed.

I bought a LTE S3 for $400 when no Sprint 4G was around. They told me it would be next month.

They upped my monthly charge to $40 from $35 because I had an LTE phone. It took me a year and a half to get the $35 plan. I did not have LTE.

NOW LTE is ALMOST everywhere in my area even though Sprint has not made it official. I can finally see how my phone CAN run. I rarely use Wifi.

They have always throttled me, but it did not really matter because my speeds were so slow anyway.

So, to add insult to injury it is not enough to throttle me to the speeds I am used to. They have to turn the knife in the wound, since they know with my new fast LTE I will use more data. They plan to toggle me to ridiculously low speeds as a deterrent to using the LTE I have paid for months without having but now have and are not allowed to enjoy.

Not Cool, Boost. Not Cool at all.

At least up the limit to 5GB since I have stuck by this company since 2011 and put up with all manner of non data and even non telephony while they were upgrading their towers on a pace only seen in glaciers.

Check out this gentleman's thoughts on the subject.

HE SHOOOOOOTS!!! HE SCORRRRRRRRRRRRRES!!!

Holy moly! And I thought I could rant. I don't hold a candle to this Cat. Gotta give him props though because he hits on some darn good, MAJOR points in the parts I watched.

I didn't listen to the whole thing either. I did listen to aprox the 1st 15 minutes and then skipped ahead to the end. :D
