Here is the ota update zip to update from stock SPH-L710_MD7 to MG2

got it from the "over the air" update that gets slowly pushed to our phones... some people get it before others and some people with custom roms might not get it at all... so im just sharing what Samsung has sent.

you need to be completely stock (root is ok)...
place it in your cache/ directory
go to settings
system update

.
( if you are having issues this may help tell you whats wrong OTA Verifier )
( here is stock build.prop if you need. you must remove the .bak from the end of the file name )

is this update root or will it unroot my phone when i run it
update never mine tried it will not work it looks like with stock recovery

I just pulled the ota update from my phone... it's untuched so you will need to be stock for it to work. Put it in you cache/ directory and go to settings and do system update... if you have root you sould first try using voodoo ota root keeper from the play store first, it has successfully worked on all my divices however I have not updated my phone yet because I don't have cwm to backup my phone and can not loose root. I will be updating after I make an odin backup this weekend.

I keep getting the error "assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "d2vmu"..."

Anyone else experiencing this issue? I'm rooted, but still running the factory stock.

Does the error product name match your device? I have a slight feeling that mine is slightly different than the average. .. for instance I can not get recovery to work like most others.

My phone is a sph-l710.. I assume it should work. It really doesn't mention my model number.. just that d2vmu. It's been trying to do a Samsung OTA update and still gets that same error when it tries.

you need the stock build.prop , the same thing happened to my and i used the stock build.prop and it was fixed

Hello all. What exactly is in this ota update? I have a boost s3 model sph-l710 and I am rooted with custom rom, and TWRP recovery. I bought this about a month ago. Is this update something that just came out, more recently than a month ago?? Also, if I need this, what would be the steps in getting this ota update on my phone?
Thanks for the feedback.

Where did you get it from if ya don't mind me asking :) Any particular instruction for where to put it. Thank you in advance!

I found the built.prop and my ro.product.device=d2vmu. Seems like it should be working.. I the only thing I did was root, I never replaced the stock rom. Curious as to why it think it's something different. Dunno if it needs the build.prop in the cache folder when I try to update.

Not sure exactly what's in it, a few patches, a few fixes, I'm sure it makes the phone better some how.
Yes its a recent updat, a week or two.
You do not need any ota updatea... your phone works great out of the box... but if you want to update you will need to go back to complete stock and most likely kiss root goodbye until somone finds a way to get it root back.

Welp I finally tried to update now that I can roll back with odin if I needed...
No go for me. Build.prop issue too... and I know its stock, unless rooting changes something in it... on ota verifier it sais my prop is good and shows everything passes. .. must be root maybe... I'll try again a different day.

Yea.. I'm not really worried about it. Phone works fine as is anyways.. nothing to complain about :)

I guess this was the one i was asking about before, but unfortunately i cant update my Samsung firmware because i have root and custom recovery. LOL anyways ill just have to put up with the annoying popup update message thing. I still cant find a good answer in making it stop popping up lol

i have a SPH-L710 from boostmobile (currently rooted) too and i got the same error message. (btw I was running CWM then reverted back to stock recovery to do the following). Ive tried temporary unroot using voodoo then installing ota, replacing posted stock .prop file with my .prop on phone, tried flashing ota zip file from external, and tried to use alien ota verifier app (which says both cached and external ota zip files are okay).... I get the same error message each time. I don't know what else to do except completely wipe phone and loose root access. Can someone please help...

we are all having the same problems... however the odin files were just updated a few moments ago... if you would like you can try re downloading the odin file and retry updating... hopefully it works but don't get your hopes us until it takes... i have not tried again yet to do the ota update... good luck :o

ok i just tried ota update with stock w/root
no go... but i did get past the build.prop

ota verifier said 149 files did not match... that confuses me because the odin file is now a copy from kies supposedly
